Study On The Value Orientation Of The P.E. Major In Colleges From The Viewpoint Of Olympic Culture

Education has the function of interpreting culture.During the process,the value orientation of education is established.Sine the middle of the 20^thcentury,Olympic culture has permeated such cultural education field as schools to different degrees,and proceeded to have a influence on the P.E. major in colleges in China.However,deviations emerged in both the development of Olympic culture itself and its interpretation by the P.E.major.Before the 1990s,the P.E.in China made a one-sided interpretation of the Olympic culture as "athletics",ignoring its "humanistic spirit".Thus,"athletics" became the "symbol" of China's P.E. and "athletics","instrumentalism" have for a time become the value orientation of the P.E.major in colleges.In the late 1990s,with the in-depth reform of P.E.major in colleges and renewal of "humanistic spirit","human-oriented" and "promotion of man's harmonious development" are proposed to be the value orientation of the P.E.major in colleges in the new century.However,the P.E.major in colleges in China is,on the one hand,guided by the concept of "human-orientation"; on the other hand,it is heavily influenced by the traditional concepts like "athletics" and "instrumentalism".As a result,its value orientation finds itself in a dilemma.The conflicts between educational aims and social wants,between employment and talents demand,between humanistic education and athletic education,between general education and specialize education arises.The development of the P.E.major in colleges is in need of immediate reform,which in turn must find its answer from the origin of the problem—the value orientation of the P.E.major.This study,from the point of view of Olympic culture,first analyzes the relation between Olympic culture and the development of the P.E.major,then the influence of Olympic culture on the reform of value orientation of the P.E.major in colleges and reflects on the status quo of the value orientation of the P.E.major.Finally,analyzes the core value of Olympics to make several conflicts with the development of the the P.E.majoy in colleges work in harmony,and ultimately promote the sustainable development of the P.E.major in colleges.The study shows that:(1)Olympic culture incorporates P.E.,culture and education,going together with education and complementing each other.On the one hand,Olympic culture can not only meet the needs of the development of the P.E.major and the demands of students majoring in P.E.for sports culture,but also promote the all-round development of the students.On the other hand, the P.E.major can in turn propel the development of Olympic culture in that the students are the direct participants,practitioners and communicators of Olympic Games.(2)The Intemational University Specialized P.E.reform presents a tendency for the broad training objects,the various specialized establishment and the humanism courses setting,up.The individual standard values and the social standard values of the University specialized P.E.has obtained a complete combination.(3) According to University specialized P.E.to the the degree of understanding and the absorption in Olympics culture in our country,the historical division of University specialized P.E.value orientation can be four periods:before 1949,the political value orientation aiming at military purpose serving for class struggle;1949-1978,we take the teaching sports technical and skill as major value orientation;1979-1999,the value orientation of the tools and sports;from 2000 until now,we advocate the human-oriented value orientation.(4)There exist conflicts between educational aims and social wants,between employment and talents demand,between athletic education and humanistic education,between general education and specialized education in the value orientation of the P.E.major in colleges.(5)"Harmony" is the ultimate pursuit of Olympic culture,which includes the "harmony" in itself and the "harmonious" development of man.(6)The P.E.major in colleges should take "harmony" as its value orientation,make the system of the P.E.major,other systems and various elements within the system(including educational aims and social wants, athletic education and humanistic education,general education and specialize education)work in harmony and concert,and ultimately realize the sustainable development of the P.E.major in colleges.
