Regional geography is the core of the curriculum of middle school geography and has unique value for students'development. But for a long time,some problems of regional geography education in teaching methods,training objectives,instructional design and other aspects should not be ignored. At the same time,most geographical educators researched the teaching theories of geography from views of the overall of geography discipline but neglected the difference between systematic geography and regional geography. Therefore,from views of regional geography,the discussion on the subject choice,content preparation,target construction and teaching strategies would be important issues and urgent tasks for geographical educators.In this paper,six different schools which including junior and senior high schools in Changchun City,Jilin Province were chosen as the sample survey regions,then students'regional geographic literacy levels and situations of regional geography teaching were investigated and analysed. Based on the investigation and analysis,the subject choice,content preparation,target construction and teaching strategies in such core issues of regional geography have been studied.The whole paper includes introduction,body,and conclusion. The body includes 5 chapters,which according to the thought of study from theory to practice.Introduction:The background of study from the point of view that the unique value for students'development,curriculum position,present situation of teaching,and present situation of the study on teaching theory of regional geography were expounded. Based on it,the research significance,research methodology and research process were known clearly.Chapter I is the research summary of regional geography teaching in secondary school. In this paper,from the view of teaching content,target and mothed of regional geography,the present situation of teaching was organized and commented. On this basis,the study on starting point and research perspective have been identified.Chapter II is about the investigation and analysis of the current situation of regional geography teaching in secondary school. Using Spss 14.0 statistical software for Windows,the results and check the reliability and validity of the survey data were analyzed. The result showed that,regional geographic literacy levels were not high either in junior high school or senior high school. Furthermore,According to the analysis on the students' ability of regional comparison,comprehensive analysis, regional geospatial position,regional geography information processing and regional sustainable development e.t.c,the target training of tudents' ability and method should be enhanced and the students' ability to use all kinds of information to solve the regional geography matters should be improved in regional geography teaching of secondary school.Chapter III is the subject choice and preparation strategy of regional geographic content in secondary school. Through the comparison among of regional geography courses at home and abroad, China's nearly 100 years regional geography curriculum content and the new course of junior and senior high school geography textbook,the theme of content was established : regional position , regional characteristics , regional difference , regional connection,regional sustainable development and so on. And from aspects of balance and typicality,comprehensiveness and regionality,basic and inquiry,authority and interest,or continuity and phased,the preparation strategy of the regional geography content were proposed.Chapter IV is the target construction of regional geography teaching in secondary school. In this paper,the ultimate target to cultivate Chinese being global perspective and the central target to bring up students' regional geography literacy were proposed. The composition of regional geography literacy defined as follows:First,the enough storage of essential regional geographic knowledge;Second,the approaches of recognizing regions which include regional comparative,regional comprehensive analysis,regional observation,regional investigation e.t.c;Third,the ability of regional study,including regional geospatial positioning capability,regional geospatial detected ability,regional geographic information processing capacity,regional geography causation analysis and reasoning ability;Fouth,the view of recognizing region,including space view,ecological view,the view of human being harmonized with the earth,the view of suiting measures to local conditions.Chapter V is optimization strategy of regional geography teaching in secondary school. the design mode and the basic essential of regional geography teaching were proposed,the collection of selected regional geography cases and presents strategies were summed up,and the significant content of inquiry learning in regional geography was organized.Conclusions and Discussions: Based on summarizing the content subject,target construction and education optimization of regional geography in secondary school,the basic conclusions were extracted. Meanwhile,According to the understanding of the present study situation of regional geography teaching,the innovation of this paper was generalized. Furthermore,the shortcomings of this paper were analyzed also.
