The globalization of the world economy, politics and culture requires school education with rapid reform, which makes new challenges for school principal to bring up more talents with internationalized eyesight. At meantime, the quick development of society also places more functions on school education. As a result, the school principal needs to be not only a school manager, but also a school leader. A school principal who takes a key role in the school development and is responsible of any decisions of school, must improve his (her) leading ability in order to meet different demands of different stockholders of school education, as well as the rapid change of school.The research aimed to explain how principal leadership was functioning in the perspective of school changing, and pointed out the essential abilities which principal should be have. With discussing the importance of the changing, the research established a theory model, which would help school principals to improve their leadership in changing their schools to success. The research contained eight chapters, which included:Chapter 1 introduced backgrounds of this research and listed general research questions, then pointed out why these questions were important.Chapter 2 expounded the changes for school education in the 21st century and why these changes are important for principal development. In order to find the practical situation of principal, the research interviewed 10 principals of Shanghai Putuo District and analyzed their cognitions of school leadership.Chapter 3 made a literature analyze of principal leadership and compared different kinds of theories of former researchers, then put forward a new theoretical analyzing framework from "heart of leader "/'brain of leader ", "hands of leader", redefined the connection of principal leadership, and explained why the framework was suitable for the research.Chapter 4.5.6 analyzed separately how "heart of leader ", " brain of leader" , "hands of leader" worked in the perspective of school changing, the details of issue included : definition and essentials of the three leaderships and how these leaderships was carried out in the process of school leadership. Chapter 7 analyzed how "heart of leader ", "brain of leader " and "hands of leader" were connected among each other. Discussed how this model was useful in practice.Chapter 8 demonstrated a concrete example how "leader heart, leader brain, leader hand" model was used in practice, and to prove that the model was useful for principal to carry out schooi reform plans.Finally, the research drew general conclusion and gave some strategies for the better development of principal leadership from practical eyesight.
