During the Ming dynasty, Chekiang 40th (1561 D.C.), Qi Jiguang composed the 18 juan Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu, of which the 14th ch is the synopsis of the boxing bible. There are three respective part in the bible, which are the main body, 32 punches and punching demonstrative chart. Ji -Xiao Xin-Shu has been revised many times in the past four hundred years, but the original meaning has been distorted. Thus, there are a lot of mistakes. Furthermore, the archaic document was not even punctuated, so the debates for the boxing bible hinder the interpretation of the content. So far, no body has done the research for the interpretation of the bible and 32 punches. Nowadays, the renaissance of Wushu has already resurrected. The research for the ancient punching is significant.The research collects the various versions of Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu from the domestic document and organized the oldest complete copy for the proofreading. The other copies are the contrasted copies for the research. The archaic documents which are marked with Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu are the references for this study. The proofreading for punctuation of the boxing bible is based on the rhyme of the poetry from the synopsis of Ming and Ching dynasty boxing rhyme. And the rhyme provides the clue for distinguishing the homographic characters in the end of the sentences. For instance, the character /zhong`/ refers to heavy but the same character with different tone / zhong/ refers to overlap. After the proofreading and scrutinizing for the document, the clarity of the content makes the structure of the archaic easier to understand. The document describes and explores before and after completion of Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu until Ching dynasty. It comprises the archaic punching documents. The relevant materials for analysis of the punching as the demonstration are excavated from Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu. The 32 punching postures are analyzed based on annotation, method, quotation and characteristic. Finally, the boxing bible and postures are categorized and analyzed into the conclusion of the characteristics of attacking and defending. The core theory of the attacking and defending is composed based on the demonstration, conceptual inference and comparison.The methodology of this research is supported from the perspective of textual criticism, edition research, phonology, poetry and historic linguistics. Furthermore, the research also embarks from the perspective of the history, martial art, physiology and biomechanics. The research applies the scientific methodology with documentary categorization, conceptual inference and comparison plus the interview with expertise.In this research, the significant findings are as the following:1. The research excavates the oldest copy of Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu;2. The research excavates the early period of Ching dynasty manuscript copy of boxing bible;3. The research discovers the mistakes in the body part in Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu;4. The research discovers an error in Xia-Cha punch in the posture of the punching in Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu. This error has existed for four hundred years;5. Discovering the rhyme of punching posture in the boxing bible is analyzed and punctuated by interpreting the ancient poetry. The rhyme also can be found by the interpretation of the Chinese characters in the end of the sentences in Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu.6. Discovering the punctuation in Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu has certain routines. And the finding reveals the structure of the characters. The posture of the punching is thereby positioned and the content meanings of the phrases are more clarity; 7. Discovering the phrases are utilized speed reading and slow reading from the theory of phonology for interpretation.The conclusions of the research are as the following:1. The debate of the publish period is done by the method of textual research. The first draft was 18juan long and the completion of the book was around summer and fall of Ming Chekaing 40th (1561);2. The legendary punching has adopted into the military strategy and it improved the martial art system. Qi Jiguang invented the masterpiece and spread it to the following generation with words and charts demonstration;3. The textual research of Longqing version of Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu had been proofread for four hundred years and left a lot of mistakes. Since the revising of Xidi version, the mistakes occurred because of reprinting the copy;4. The boxing bible categorized the punching postures into ingenious, aggressive, swift, and gentle. The Qi's version of punching postures includes wrestling for ingenious ,kick, hit, attack, stab for aggressive, grip for swift and steps for soft;5. The interpretation for punching postures has different encodings according to the various martial educational backgrounds. The improvement of learning punching is depending on learners'experiences and the way of self-enlightenment;6. There are six core theories for the punching postures of Ji-Xiao Xin-Shu. The first is the importance of direct punching. Second is the concept of attacking from the angle of horizon. Third is the attacking from the contrasted 3 sharp points. Fourth is the spontaneous response to the attacking from enemy. Fifth is applying the various postures to different types of attacking. The sixth is the refining self-techniques by practicing with others such as your enemy;7. The intrinsic of martial art has disappeared since the weaponry outdated. As the renaissance of the modern skirmish and weapon attacking adopted in the war, an upsurge for root-researching of martial arts has already sparked;8. As the Tai-uz traveled to Qi Jiguang in Wushu, the excavation of the ancient punching method that derived from origin glorifies the martial arts and hands down the punching method to next generation.
