At present, China is under a thorough reform, in which the adjustment of notion and system is a key point in constructing an active and modern interactive mode between people. Undeniably, the modernization brings about enormous benefits and information to the city women of Hui nationality; however, it is also imperative to see that any modernized construction and progress has many non-modernized restrictive factors. The Hui nationality, shouldering too many regional and traditional elements, also has imperceptible adjustments in their development and progress under this modernized transformation. The author mainly explores the adjustment and changes made by the city Hui women in their notions and behaviors on marriage within such a big background of modernization.With the deepening of Open and Reform policy and the quickening of political and economic integration, it is believed that no nations or countries could go back to the traditional closed system in histroy to reconstruct their own culture. As an important carrier of Hui culture,city women of Hui also take an active part in promoting the modernization of society and attempt to obtain intellectual self-improvement.However, under the the situation of modernization and social transformation, everything seems to be hopeful as well as hopeless for city women, therefore, it comes the conformance, resistance, adaptation, evasion and even reclusion of them.This paper studies mainly about the Hui women. The focus on Hui nationality is based on the importance of Hui in China. As an integral part of the Chinese nation, the significance and importance of Hui nationality is immeasurable. According to the fifth national census statistics in 2000, there are 9,816,805 people of Hui population, only second to the Zhuang, Uygur and takes the third place. Meanwhile, the unique belief in Muslims places Hui an important part of 1.3 billion Muslims in the world thus inextricably links Hui to Muslims on both culture and religion.In the process of modernization and globalization, it is undeniable that when people all over the world are concerning about the rise of China, they also put an eye on the situation of the special group, Hui.Thus we can conclude that it is necessary and of great practical significance to make a systematic study on politics, economy,culture and other aspects of Hui.In concrete methods, the author mainly investigates Hui women groups in two major cities of Xi'an and Lanzhou. Combinating the abundant survey data with the documantal material, the author manages to demostrate the behavioral and conceptual models of Hui women in process of modernization and social transformation. In concrete discussion, the author mainly analizes and discusses 6 parts:the marriage concepts and behavioral patterns, family concepts and behavioral patterns, education concepts and behavioral patterns, personal interaction and contacts patterns, participating awareness and political particapation situation and religious life.The author wants to depict the cultural significance that during the adaption to modernation, the awakeness and self-resuce of Hui women will definitely combine together with bitterness,which is an unavoidable experience and great treasure for the development of the whole nation and even the whole society at large.
