The concept of building a socialist harmonious society was first put forward clearly by the CPC's Sixteenth Fourth Session in the year of 2004. In 2006, the CPC's Sixteenth Sixth Session passed a number of decisions on major issues of building a socialist harmonious society, which elaborated the importance and urgency, the guiding ideology, objectives, tasks and principles of building a socialist harmonious society.
