The chlor-alkali industry is a key basic raw material industry in China. It is also a traditional resource conversion industry. In China, chlor-alkali products have been widely used in various industries such as in agriculture, petro-chemistry, textile, chemical construction materials, electricity, metallurgy, military, construction materials, food processing, and so on. It has played a vital role in the economic development of China.China has become the country with the largest chlor-alkali production and consumption. Its production capacity has been rapidly increasing; as such, the demands for energy and resources have largely increased, along with serious environmental pollution. Since the extensive mode of economic growth in China has basically been left unchanged, the fast growth of the chlor-alkali industry continues to be promoted by high investment in resources and high consumption. These have led to various resource bottlenecks and environmental problems, which have affected the regional sustainable growth.It has become a crucial strategic problem for the chlor-alkali industry to urgently ensure its sustainable growth in China. The circular economic development mode can be an effective approach to promote a clean and green production for the chlor-alkali industry. It can also be the inevitable choice for sustainable growth and a new "green" road towards industrialization. Because of this, the republic is actively starting to use the circular economy for the chlor-alkali industry in order to promote the stable, healthy, and sustainable growth of the industry. These steps should change the chlor-alkali chemical production areas into ecologically sound production areas.Under this background, circular economic theory, ecology industry theory, emergy analysis and industrial grouping theory are applied to systemically study the chlor-alkali chemical industry park in this thesis.The main contributions are summarized and presented as follows:(1) In this thesis, a mode suitable to our own condition, and to use as reference for transforming is proposed by analyzing, summarizing and inducing the typical mode of the chlor-alkali chemical industry park circular economic development both at home and abroad.(2) Combining emergy analysis with industry ecology, circular economy and industrial grouping theory, this thesis quantitively analyses and describes various ecology flows of the chlor-alkali chemical industry park. The effect and status of various sub-systems is evaluated. Using a series of comprehensive indexes based on emergy analysis through all-round analyzing to quantitively analyze the structure function of the chlor-alkali chemical industry park and benefit of ecology economy and the sustainability of the system.(3) Establishing the system of circular economic comprehensive evaluation indices and evaluation module, so as to truly and objectively evaluate the status and development trend of circular economy in the industrial zone and put forward theoretical proofs and technical supports for sustainable development of the chlor-alkali chemical industry park.(4) In order to test and verify the theories and methods, this thesis selects Tianye chemical industry park in Xinjiang as object to study materially.The main creative points as follows:(1) Circular economy mode of development on the chlor-alkali chemical industry park is established based on industrial grouping.(2) Emergy analysis is applied to the chlor-alkali chemical industry park, broadening the scope of its application.Evaluation indices system of ecology and economy benefit in the chlor-alkali chemical industry park is established based on emergy analysis. Therefore, the traditional evaluation indices system is extended. (3) The system of circular economy comprehensive evaluation indices and evaluation module is established based on emergy analysis in the chlor-alkali chemical industry park.
