Study On Construction Industrial Organization During The Transition Period Based On SCP

Construction industry is an important material production sector and plays a key role in Chinese national economy. However, due to the co-existence of the traditional planned economy system and market economy one, there are many problems at present, such as an imperfect China's construction system, a low market concentration, a non-standard enterprise conduct, invaluable regulations of government, and a poor market performance. Hence, it is urgent and important to investigate China's construction industrial organization during the transition period.In this dissertation, a Market Structure & Property Structure-Enterprise Conduct-Market Performance (SSCP) analysis framework has been established on the basis of Market Structure-Enterprise Conduct-Market Performance (SCP) analysis framework for the theory of industrial organization. Under this SSCP framework and a questionnaire survey, a performance evaluation system affected by the construction industrial market structure, property structure, enterprise conduct and market performance has been studied. An empirical analysis confirms the SSCP framework by selecting the market concentration ratio, the proportion of public economy, the ratio of profit to revenue. It proves that both market structure and property structure influence on enterprise conduct, and then on market performance. At last, some maneuverable strategies to prompt the process of China industrial organization optimization and to strengthen the construction industrial market performance have been suggested.The main innovation points in the dissertation are showed as follow.1. The SSCP analysis framework has been established in China's construction industrial organization during the transition period. Introducing the property structure which has a major impact to enterprise conduct and market performance during the transition period, a Market Structure & Property Structure-Enterprise Conduct-Market Performance (SSCP) analysis framework has been established on the basis of Market Structure-Enterprise Conduct-Market Performance (SCP) analysis framework for the theory of industrial organization.2. A multiple regression model has been established. Using the method of multiple regression analysis, a multiple regression model has been established between market performance and market structure, property structure, enterprise conduct. An empirical research has been carried out and the empirical results prove that both market structure and property market codetermine enterprise conduct and market performance.3. Some government policies have been suggested to optimize and regulate China's construction industrial organization. According to the empirical results and the questionnaire survey, some maneuverable and targeted strategies to prompt the process of China industrial organization optimization and to strengthen the construction industrial market performance have been suggested.
