Industrial tourism originated in the 50s of last century in France, with the popular of industrial archeology originated in the United Kingdom, industrial tourism gradually developed. Industrial tourism industry is to comply with industrial restructuring and upgrading. It is a new industry formed with the combination of the second industry and the third industry. It is not only for industrial structure climbing to high-valued chain, but also a result of consumer market diversified, multi-level and specialized. Now, in the United States, Germany, Britain and other industrialized countries, industrial tourism has become an important tourism industry, tourism industry in Western developed countries is called the "before rising sun" industry.Industrial tourism emerged in the mid-90s of the 20th century in China; the earliest corporations starting industrial tourism include Shougang Group, Baosteel, Haier, Changhong and other well-known large enterprises. In 2001, the National Tourism Administration official launched industrial tourism, it has released four consecutive batches of 345 "national industrial tourism spots demonstration", which marks the beginning of China's industrial tourism industry increased the level to entry and its market operation.Developing industrial tourism has a strong positive external effect; it is likely for companies to propaganda themselves, it also extend the border of tourism industry, meet consumers diversified demands and promote social science education. However, the size of China's industrial tourism industry is small, the market is not perfect, its market performance is poor, meanwhile, the theory of industrial tourism industry lagged far behind. On the one hand, organizational characteristics and mode of operation in industrial tourism industry differ greatly with the general business; the reviews can not be used directly to the new industry. On the other hand, the tourism industry is highly fragmented, and statistics lack severely, so doing research on tourism industry is great difficult, the existing literature on the industrial tourism industry is still less and incorrect. Therefore, for a long time, there are only a little research on tourism industry, conducting a comprehensive study on the tourism industry from the perspective of industrial organization is almost blank.It is just based on the industrial development problems and current theoretical study, this thesis uses the SCP analysis of the traditional industrial organization, and discusses the formation, development of industrial tourism industry, and its constraints, also analyze its industrial organization and optimization. We aimed to answer these following questions, first, what stage is China's industrial tourism industry in; second, what's the market structure of industrial tourism and how the companies market behavior affects its market performance; third, how to design the development policy and industrial organization policy and how we adjust their behavior.According to the field and characteristics of the research, this paper combines normative analysis and empirical analysis together, uses both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. The thesis does the domestic and foreign literature review first, described the development of industrial tourism in our country and all over the world, then reviews related theories of industry growth and development, mainly research the formation of industrial tourism industry and its development. This thesis is written along two main lines: First, the vertical development of industrial tourism. Here we discus the life cycle of industrial development of tourism industries from the industry perspective; Second, the development of industrial landscape. Here the thesis mainly talks about the current industrial organization of industrial tourism. In the end, the thesis makes several conclusions, points out the inadequacies of the research and makes future research prospects of industrial tourism industry.This thesis includes six parts, the basic structure and main contents are as follows:The first part is the introduction; it describes the background, purpose and significance of this research, and makes a review of domestic and foreign literatures; The second part elaborates the general rules of industrial development, the formation and development of the industry is explored here, it also describes development characteristics of each stage from the perspective of industry life cycle and introduces industrial organization and optimization theory. The third part points the formation of China's industry and development of the tourism industry. Then elaborates its characteristics and constrains. Part IV uses industrial organization theory for analysis. Here we define the main body of Tourism related industry organizations, uses SCP analysis the industry market structure, conduct and performance analysis. Part V raises proposals and countermeasures to promote the development of industrial tourism and optimization of industrial tourism industry organization, respectively from the perspective of industry strategy and industrial organization. In the end, several conclusions are made; this part also points out the inadequacies of the research and makes future research prospects of industrial tourism industry.Comparing with current literatures, this thesis makes exploratory studies as following:First, industrial organization theory is first used in analysis of tourism in emerging industries, and the thesis puts forward several recommendations for organization optimization. Based on the theory of industry growth and development, the thesis explores the formation of industrial tourism industry, stages of development and its growth path; and based on the theory of industry organization, the thesis elaborates the make structure, conduct and performance of industrial tourism industry, finally gives several proposes on how to optimize the industrial organization.Second, the thesis uses but not confined within the theory of industry organization, also combines industry strategy together, makes quantitative and qualitative analysis on industrial tourism from both vertical and horizontal perspectives.The thesis makes several pioneering works, it has creative contributes on the study in this field, and the conclusions are prospective, the countermeasure raised can be easily taken into action. The inadequate of this thesis is that quantitative analysis is less than supposed to be because of lack of statistics dates, meanwhile, several qualitative analyses is not tested by existing facts.
