Domestic demand structure, as an important component part of economic structure of ourcountry, the inner structure of which whether can achieve consistent and balanceddevelopment, exerts a great impact on optimization of economic structure andsustainable economic development of our country. In the past decades, China'seconomy achieved fast and robust development, and the overall national strength hasimproved, and total amount of economy has ranked in No.2 all over the world.However, in recent years, because of complicated and varied international social andeconomical situation, and rapid fluctuation of some countries'economy, the growthrate of GDP has become slower. In 2008, with the spread of global financial crisis,China's economy faced the overwhelming challenges. when we review the pastdevelopment history, we find that there are many problems preventing China'seconomy from making progress, and the main causes of these problems are theimbalance of economic structure and untransformed development pattern. In theTwelfth Five-Year Plan, our government puts forward clearly some outstandingproblems that make our country's society and economy imbalanced, inconsistent andunsustainable, and focus on making every effort to regulate domestic demand structure.The objective requirements of achieving rapid, robust and sustainable economicdevelopment include discarding such unsustainable growth patterns as export-leading,investment-driven and extensive growth pattern, dealing with relationship betweendomestic investment and consumption, as well as regarding the expansion of domesticdemand as motive force to accelerate economic growth. Therefore, promotingeconomic development by expanding total amount of domestic demand and optimizingstructure has become an important project researched deeply nowadays.Just under this economic and social background and this time requirement thatimbalance domestic demand structure should be adjusted, I put domestic demandstructure in economic development as the main topic of my doctoral dissertation. Mydissertation looked to domestic demand structure problem systematically from the multidisciplinary angle of economics, politics, sociology and psychology, and uses thecase of development history of investment and consumption in our country, and appliesresearch methods of theory-case, analysis- synthesis and induction-deduction. Thedissertation explored the manifestation of ratio imbalance of domestic demandstructure's total amount and components by analyzing quality and ratio relationsbetween investment and consumption. The dissertation tried to put forward policysuggestions for imbalance of domestic demand structure through exploring andanalyzing the causes of imbalance. The dissertation divided into six chapters, and themain content and conclusions of this dissertation includes:In the first chapter, it introduces the background and significance of topicselection, research object and methods, research framework, innovative points andshortcomings of the dissertation. In the second chapter, it introduces the basic theory ofdomestic demand structure. In the first place, it makes the clear definition on domesticdemand structure, investment structure and consumption structure. In the second place,by reviewing Marxism reproduction theory, Mao Zedong thought on correctly handlingthe relations between accumulation and consumption, Western investment andconsumption relations theory, and analysis and summary on investment andconsumption theory of our country's scholars, it makes a pave for researchingfollowing-up topics. Finally, combining the foregoing reviewing, it gets a morecomprehensive understanding about the dialectical relation between investment andconsumption, scientific outlook on development and the pattern of economicdevelopment, priority growth rule of means of production and coordination standard ofdomestic demand structure, which provides the sound theoretical basis forfollowing-up research.In the third chapter, it introduces changing process and analysizes currentsituation of domestic demand structure of our country. Through reviewing changingprocess of domestic demand structure of our country and analyzing correlative data,there exists some ratio imbalances in investment and consumption of domestic demandstructure, and in investment structure between industries, and in capital assetsinvestment between urban and rural areas, and in non-productive investment, and alsothere are some ratio imbalances in consumption structure, like governmentconsumption and resident consumption, resident consumption between urban and ruralareas, and resident consumption demand in urban areas. By combining the manifestation of imbalance between total amount and components of domestic demandstructure, the dissertation summarizs that the imbalance of domestic demand structuremay have a negative effect on economic development of our country from the angle ofeconomy, society, environment and humanity. In the fourth chapter, the essayanalysizes the representation and in-depth reasons of imbalance of domestic demandstructure in economic growth. In vertical perspective, imbalance of domestic demandstructure was not only affected by historical reasons and restricted national conditions,but also influenced by system transition. In lateral perspective, imbalance of domesticdemand structure was not only affected by the change of economic policy guideline,error of economic development idea, but also influenced by the lack of social security.Through these emphases, we have a more comprehensive understanding about thereasons of imbalance of domestic demand structure of our country, and define thedirection for handling these problems.In the fifth chapter, it introduces other countries'experiences in adjustingdomestic demand structure. By drawing on experiences of the USA, Japan, India, andBrazil in policies and measures in regulating relation between investment andconsumption, and through analyzing these experiences, it provides some suggestionsfor making measures to adjust domestic demand structure, that is improving residentconsumption's expectation and ability before expanding consumption, leaning theinvestment policy guidance to small and medium private enterprises, optimizinginvestment structure should by strengthening scientific innovative ability of enterprises,and adjusting domestic demand structure by focusing on establishing effectiveadjusting system. In the sixth chapter, it introduces principles and countermeasures ofadjusting domestic demand structure. This chapter is the conclusion part of thedissertation. Firstly, it brings forward four principles of adjusting domestic demandstructure, that is, the principle of overall planning and all-round consideration, theprinciple of market-leading and government-service, the principle of the Integration ofspeed and quality of development, and the principle of correctly handling the relationsbetween accumulation and consumption. Secondly, it provides policy suggestions foradjusting domestic demand structure from the angle of economic system, fiscal policy,financial policy, investment structure, distribution system, social security, and so on.These suggestions include reform of finance and tax system, improving financialservice, optimization of investment structure, improving investment efficiency, expansion of consumption demand, promoting consumption quality, increasingresident's income, improving consumption ability, social security system andconsumption expectation. This dissertation uses imbalance of investment andconsumption as research object, forms the writing framework from giving problem,analyzing problem and handling problem perspectives, and combines thedemonstration analysis and standard analysis, and produces achievements which havetheoretical and practical meanings for handling realistic problems.
