Since1950s, entrepreneurs, academicians, governments in the world have brought in industrial ecology and circular economics, and have taken positive measures in practice, such as clean production, ecological industrial parks, regional by-product exchange networks and other forms of activities to resolve conflicts between the environment and resources and development of the economy and society, and achieve sustainable economic and social development.There are many basic theories, concepts and forms of practice on the domain of sustainable development. Industrial ecology, one of the basic theories, provides a solid theoretical foundation for sustainable development. Another theory of industrial ecological system has been changing the mode of operation of economic and society. Moreover, development of ecological industrial park provides a suitable carrier for the application of industrial ecology and practice of industrial ecological system.Based on industrial ecology, this dissertation analyzes the evolution of industrial ecology systems and defines the optimal boundary of industrial ecologcial system, and then made a comparison of different organizational model of industrial ecological systems. This dissertation also makes an comparative study through the practice of ecological industrial park development in China and abroad, aiming to supply experience for China's ecological industrial park building and sustainable economic and social development.This dissertation firstly presents the comprehensive economic and technological research paradigm of the evolution of industrial ecological system, and proposes a basic theoretical model and the dynamic mechanism of the evolution of the industrial ecological system. Based on the above analytical results, the evolutional process of industrial ecological system is reasonably divided into five stages.And then this dissertation expands the above theoretical model of industrial ecological system in two aspects.In one aspect, based on the expansion of the organizational forms of industrial ecological system, this dissertation proposes the optimal boundary theory of industrial ecologcial system, and divided the organizational forms of industrial ecology system into three levels including clean production, ecological industrial park and regional industrial ecological system.In the other aspect, based on the expansion of the modes of the organization development, this dissertation makes a comparative study of self-organized mode and intentionally-designed mode of industrial ecological system from the perspective of new institutional economics.Finally, this paper investigates the development of ecological industrial parks which are the carriers of the practice of industrial ecological system, discusses the advantages and disadvantages of different organizational modes of ecological industrial park. In view of the above discussions, this dissertation further gives some suggests on the development of ecological industrial park in China. Innovative work in this dissertation including the following three aspects:(1) Five stages of industrial ecological system evolution is proposed and and the influential factors is analyzed.In Chapter2, by the use of division theory of the new classical economics theory and economic and technological research paradigm, this dissertation divides general industrial ecological system into five stages:natural ecological system stage(or self-sufficiency stage), the initial specialization stage, advanced specialization stage, the initial industrial ecological system stage and the advanced industrial ecological system stage (or perfect industrial ecological system stage) and proposes the influential mechanism of technology evolution and initial resource price factors on the evolution of industrial ecology system.(2) Defining the double borders and levels of the industrial ecological systemIn Chapter4, based on the corporation double border theory and analysis of organizational characteristics of industrial ecological system in Chapter3, this dissertation proposes the double borders of the industrial ecological system. This dissertation also defines three organizational forms of industrial ecological system including of clean production, ecological industrial park and regional energy and material exchange in view of the analysis of the disposal and treatment cost.(3) Division and comparative analysis of the organization modes of industrial ecological systems.In Chapter5, according to government's status and role in the formation process of the industrial ecological system, this dissertation industrial ecological systems into self-organized mode, intentionally-designed mode and compositive mode. The dissertation defines industrial ecological systems formed by induced institutional change as self-organized mode, defines industrial ecological systems formed with government's direct participation by planning, designing and building as intentionally-designed mode and defines ecological industrial systems formed by induced institutional change and compulsory institutional change as compositive mode.
