Research On Regional Economic Theory And The Open Economic Development Strategy Of Liaoning Province

Since China has joined the WTO, and the opening and reform policy is being propelledconstantly, it has become the important task for local governments at all levels to realize thesustained and steady regional economy growth By making use of regional economic theoryand methods of management science, this paper focuses on the study of development strategy andcountermeasures of provincial opening regional economy as Liaoning Province Its mainresearch contents and achievements are as follows:1.The representative regional economic theories and methods, both domestic andinternational, are introduced, and are further adopted to analyze the influence of world economicrestructuring on Chinese economy and Liaoning regional economy The successful experiencesof regional economic development in developed countries and China industrial regions areanalyzed.Then we point out the unprecedented opportunity for development of Liaoning oldindustrial base which is offered by the great adjustment of China's regional economic strategy2.The current situation of economic development and open economy characteristics ofLiaoning Province is described in detail. By using Data Envelopment Analysis method, we make aquantitative analysis and evaluation of the infrastructure as well as resource conditions ofLiaoning Province, and present a comprehensive examination on the comparative advantage ofLiaoning industry3. Econometric methods are utilized to demonstrate the development of the internationaltrade and foreign investment in Liaoning Province. The special relation about regional economicdevelopment between Liaoning Province and Northeast Asia is analyzed, and the influences on theeconomic development of Liaoning are investigated4.With the regional economic theory, we design the indexes system for opening economicdevelopment of Liaoning Province.
