For several characteristics, such as large cost, long time, various activities,complicated construction condition, and easily affected by nature condition, it isenormous system engineering to frame the construction schedule planning, which isjust the difficulty in construction organization design. Meanwhile, it is the lack ofefficient theory and method that prevents the management level of constructionschedule from advancing. In the paper, method of construction schedule control andoptimization in hydroelectric project are analyzed in theory and application. The maincontents and achievements of the paper are summarized as follows:1. Simulation-based S curve of construction schedule performance is proposed,which combines system simulation technique with S curve indicating completionpercentage of general schedule. It is uncertain S curve, which consists of series of Scurves from construction simulation results for many times. Compared with actualconstruction schedule, the uncertain S curve is used to forecast and control theunfinished project. Meanwhile, aimed at the application of the method in rockfill damconstruction mamagement, three relevant fields are studies as follows:(1) The optimized allocation and overall balance of earth. Some restrictionconditions and human interventions are in-depth and particular consideration to buildthe mathematics model. And linear programming is introduced to solve the problem,and corresponding software is drawn up, whose interface and operation is easy andapplicability is preferable.(2) The predicting of available workdays with weighted Markov method isproposed. Firstly, the unavailable workdays of each month affected by raining areanalyzed with statistics from historical data existed. Considering the correlation ofcontinual months in each historical year, the unavailable workdays of future monthscould be predicted with weighted Markov and stochastic simulation. And then theyare transformed into available workdays.(3) Integrated simulation of construction processes for rockfill dam. Based on thetechnique of cycle operation network, integrated simulation is proposed to combinethe two subsystems, haul and placement of rip-rap in the paper, which intuitivelydemonstrates the construction process of rockfill dams. The construction parametersfrom simulation are used to draw the S curves of construction schedule, which ishelpful to manage and control the construction schedule.2. Leveling optimization of resource considering time value of finance. To utilizethe construction finance efficiently, the time value and leveling input of financeshould be considered. In the paper, the individual mathematic model of optimizationis built respectively. And then the two models are integrated to a whole, whichcombined dynamic investment considering time value with leveling optimization ofresource. Genetic algorithm is introduced to solve the optimization problem.3. The synthesis optimization of time, cost and quality with genetic algorithm isproposed in hydroelectric project. After quantitating the quality of each activity, thetotal project could be expressed in certain function of activities. Then the mathematicsmodel of synthesis optimization considering quality is built with time and cost.Genetic algorithm, the intelligent technique for optimizing, is also presented to searchfor the balance point, which is the low cost, short time and high quality.
