This paper focused EMS industry's production plan optimization, which is the resource leveling oriented. A new algorithm for above target has been proposed in this paper, and also applied into the schedule optimization for my company (Shanghai Viasystems Electronic ltd). The main content of the paper is shown as follow:1) Study the model for production schedule optimization with the objectives of time, cost and resource, especially to the"resource leveling objective on production schedule". The mathematical models are established respectively, which will pave the way for following research.2) Introduce how the production models to be used in the MRP system within the author's company (Viasystems electronic ltd), and Analyze the merits, disadvantages, and some unsolved problems. 3) Study some key techniques for the resource leveling oriented production optimization algorithm, and the improved genetic algorithm. Investigate existing algorithms and technologies, analyze the merits, disadvantages, and some unsolved problems, and study the construction of chromosome, fitness function, and genetic operators etc.3) Study some key techniques for the improved algorithm proposed in this paper, e.g. preprocess for the network, construction of chromosome, fitness function, and genetic operators etc. which pave the way for executing the improved algorithm into application. Apply the genetic algorithms into the schedule optimization in resource leveling.4) Apply the algorithm into production schedule optimization resource leveling of one product's plan for my company (Shanghai Viasystems electronic ltd), and a comparing analysis is made according to the calculation result.
