"There is no forever friend but forever interests." Alliance is only a better method for enterprises to obtain interests. The key to whether they can obtain their desired interests from the union finally lies in their capability to control the alliance, that is whether they can take a superior position in the alliance instead of merely striving to share interests between the two parties and achieve a win-win result. Then, what kind of capability is alliance capability on earth?The research purpose of the thesis is to reveal the black box of alliance capability to provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for enterprises to establish and develop alliance capability through answering three basic questions: What is alliance capability, What is the basic structure of it (WHAT)? Why does the alliance capability have this kind of structure (WHY)? How does such structure form (HOW)?Chapter 1 Introduction. It mainly introduces the research background of the thesis, the major issues in research, and puts forth the research purpose and major content of the thesis as well as the theoretical and practical significance of the subject, and then fixes the technical routes in research and research methods of the thesis as well as puts forward the innovative parts in the thesis and defines the important concepts of it.Chapter 2 Summary of Relevant Literatures on Alliance Capability.This chapter is mainly divided into three parts. The first part is based on the summary of the research on alliance at the dyadic level, including two aspects such as alliance motivation and alliance management, and corresponding comments have been made hereby. The second part is based on the comments on alliance capability at the firm level. And the third part is the theories on dynamic capability and research direction of alliance capability.Chapter 3 Theoretical Basis and Definition of Concepts on Alliance Capability of Enterprises.Firstly, the chapter first makes it clear that the alliance capability of the enterprises is a form of dynamic capability, which is suitable for definition and analysis with viewpoints on dynamic capability. Secondly, S-IPL analytic framework has be created by making use of the cornerstone of theories on dynamic capability—self-organization viewpoints of evolutionary economics in combinationwith current essence of theories on dynamic capability of integration school, school of process and learning school. And then relying on such analytic framework, it gives a relative scientific definition of the alliance capability of the enterprises, and then provides the basic ideas for establishing the theoretical model of the alliance capability of the enterprises.Chapter 4 The Establishment of the Theoretical Model of the Alliance Capability of Enterprises.First of all, the chapter starts with the basic analytical units of dynamic capability—common practice and organization process according to the basic ideas of S-IPL analytic framework of dynamic capability, and analyzes the connotation, mutual relations and the relation between them and alliance capability in details. And then it goes deep into the alliance capability through the research on the relation between inherent characteristics, evolutionary process, components of the alliance capability of enterprises and the formation process, and then puts forth the conclusion that the alliance capability of the enterprises is an integrated system of self-organization capability composed of operational capability, upgrading capability as well as coordinating and controlling capability, and the formation of alliance capability, dynamic evolution and the influence on the long-term alliance performance of the enterprises incurred thereby originate from consistent coordinated interaction and common evolution fit for the exterior environment among the three capabilities under the premise that the key theoretical points such as the relation between the formation mechanism, basic structure and the influencing factors etc. have been well organized. And finally it establishes the theoretical model of the alliance capability of the enterprises and puts forth corresponding hypothesis based on the summarization of the key points of the aforesaid theories.Chapter 5 Empirical Research of the Alliance Capability of the Enterprises.Thechapter gives a systematic introduction to the process of empirical research, including the design of questionnaire, measurement of the variables, design of samples, analytical methods of the materials and statistic analytical methods etc.. and then tests the theoretical hypothesis put forth above, the result of which has proved therationality of the model of alliance capability of the enterprises established in the thesis.Chapter 6 Case Study of the Alliance Capability of the Enterprises.The chapter carries out a major case study for an enterprise in Zhejiang Province by making use of the model of alliance capability of the enterprises established in the thesis. During the case study, it especially puts forward corresponding measures. And the result of the case study has not only further verified the rationality of such model, but has provided theoretical basis and practical guidance for the enterprise in China to develop alliance capability.Chapter 7 Research Conclusions and Prospect.The chapter makes a conclusion of the research in the thesis and induces conclusive viewpoints as well as analyzes the deficiency in the thesis and puts forth some viewpoints on the future research directions of the alliance capability of the enterprises.
