It is a big challenge for domestic enterprises to construct and develop their dynamic capabilities to achieve sustainable innovation and agile manufacturing, realize networked and speciliazed post-ford manufacturing system.This paper constructs a framework about three key concepts: dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance. This paper intends to analysis how business enterprises successfully accumulating establishing core competence and knowledge (e.g.dynamic capabilities and independent innovation capability), at the same time maintenancing good relationship with other enterprises (e.g. supply chain alliance), finally improving alliance performance and achieving competitive advantage.Based on above research purpose, this paper addresses three key questions :(1)What are dynamic capabilities and independent innovation capability and how to measure them. (2)What is the relationship between dynamic capabilities and independent innovation capability? (3)What is the relationship among dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance?This paper is composed of seven parts.The main content of this research as follows:Chapter one is the introduction. It outlines the background and significance of this research, as well as illustrates study object, content, research methods and innovation of the paper.Chapter two is the summary and evaluation of literatures. First, through combing the domestic and foreign research vein of current dynamic capabilities theory, the paper illustrates and delimits these prior definitions of dynamic capabilities,independent innovation capability and alliance performance. Next, reviewing the literature, this paper seeks to bring clarity to their potential and realized relationships between dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance.Chapter three is qualitative research on the interrelationship between dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance. To ensure logicality and rationality of research hypotheses of this study, the paper puts forward some relevant propositions and story line between dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance based on in-depth interviews with senior executives and the synthesis of second-hand data in case study enterprise. Chapter four is research framework and hypotheses. First, this paper proposes the measurement models of dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance.Next, this paper presents a concept framework of dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance and a set of testable hypotheses.Chapter five is the empirical quantitative research design of the relationships among dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance. First, this paper develops the observed varibles of the dimensions of dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance. Next, two-stage method was used to test overall fit; fit of internal structure of measurement mode, cross validation and reliability.Finnally the paper offers a summary of analysis methods for detecting the interrrelationship among dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance.Chapter six is the structural equation models for incorporating independent innovation capability as the mediating variables between dynamic capabilities and alliance performance. Firstly, this paper discusses the relationships between dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance using Pearson correlation analysis method and canonical correlation analysis method.Secondly, by means of multiple regression analysis method, the paper provides insights into the effects of dynamic capabilities on independent innovation capability and alliance performance, and the effect of independent innovation capability on alliance performance.Finally, on these bases,the structural relations among dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance are verified by the structural equation modeling.Chapter seven is the conclusion of this paper, its limitation and the expectation of future research. In this part, this paper summarizes the conclusions of the study and draw upon some limitations and suggestions for managers and academic implications for the future research.future research.The paper makes 3 contributions.(1)This paper provides an exploratory empirical study on how to measure dynamic capabilities and independent innovation capability.Because the measurement study of dynamic capabilities and independent innovation capability is in its infancy, this paper does not adopts model development strategy (often used in domestic management science), but more strictly competing models strategy (often used in psychology and pedagogy).Firstly, based on calibration sample data,this paper explores the parsimonious models of dynamic capabilities, independent innovation capability and alliance performance by means of confirmatory factor analysis method. Secondly, based on validation sample data, this paper retests reliability and cross-validation of these measurement models. The empirical results show that a firm's dynamic capabilities can be inferred from its capability to integrate, learn and reconfigure; while a firm's independent innovation capability can be inferred from its management independent innovation capability and technology independent innovation capability .Furthermore, the empirical results show that uncorrelated first–order factors model is parsimonious measurement model of dynamic capabilities and independent innovation capability, which represents a good fit to the data and lay the foundation for fututure related empirical reaseaches.(2)This paper provides an exploratory empirical study on the effects of dynamic capabilities on independent innovation capability.The relationship between dynamic capabilities and independent innovation capability is still"balck boxes"because of path dependence, social complication and causal ambiguity in core competence and knowledge development.This reasearch intends to unpack the"balck boxes"by an exploratory study examining the association between dynamic capabilities and independent innovation capability.Qualitative researches and quantitative researches both show that dynamic capabilities have a positive impact on independent innovation capability.The study also reveals the influence mechanism of dynamic capabilities on independent innovation capability based on sample data from the Chinese automotive industry.A firm's independent innovation capability is mostly affected by the reconfiguration capability dimension of dynamic capabilities.The reconfiguration capability dimension of dynamic capabilities has a more positive and direct impact on technology independent innovation capability than on management independent innovation capability.The integration capability dimension of dynamic capabilities has a positive and direct impact on technology independent innovation capability, but with no satistically significant direct impact on management independent innovation capability. The learning capability dimension of dynamic capabilities does not have a positive and direct impact on independent innovation capability, In other words, the learning capability dimension of dynamic capabilities maybe affects independent innovation capability by means of other mediator variables. In particular, our empirical results will inspire theorists and empiricists to pursue or rethink further work.(3) This paper provides an exploratory empirical study on the effects of dynamic capabilities and independent innovation capability on alliance performance.The literature on"dynamic capabilities"consists largely of theoretical and empirical dichotomy.One important reason for this is that dynamic capabilities are difficult to quantify or measure. And few empirical analyses have been attempted to testing the effects of dynamic capabilities and independent innovation capability on alliance performance.To our knowledge,the relationship between them has been empirically tested in isolation.This reasearch presents an integration research for incorporating independent innovation capability as the mediating variables between dynamic capabilities and alliance performance.The empirical result supports better understanding of the mechanism of dynamic capabilities on alliance performance, revealing the key role of independent innovation capability between dynamic capabilities and alliance performance.The empirical findings indicate that only organizational learning capability dimension of dynamic capabilities has a positive and direct impact on alliance performance,other capability dimensions of dynamic capabilities does have a positive impact on alliance performance by means of independent innovation capability.Furthermore, independent innovation capability positively affect alliance performance mostly by means of technology independent innovation capability dimension.
