The dual-factor is a general phenomenon in management. The theory of the core competence is built up upon such a hypothesis that competitive competence is made up of not only core competence but also general competence. The general competence is the basic and premise factors, i.e. the hygiene factor. Without it, enterprises will lose the qualification and chance to participate in market competition;however, owning the qualification and chance does not mean excellence in competition. Core competence, the motivation factor, is the key and crucial factor for enterprises to pursue competitive advantage. Enterprise may become distinguished by the motivation factor;otherwise, it will get into mediocre. The hygiene factor has the characteristics such as obstacle, homogeneity, dynamic expansibility, systematic and sinking-cost. On the other hand, the motivation factor is provided with the nature of heterogeneity, lifecycle, value-add, self-creativity, path-dependent and odd protrusion. Owing to the dynamic competitive environment, the development of an industry is a process in which the motivation factor degenerates and declines to become the hygiene factors, while the competitive tension and the motive of gaining profit make enterprises continually cultivate and develop new motivation factors, or try to extend the lifecycle of current motivation factors. Restricted resource and the motivation pit make the motivation factors of an enterprise limited in a period. With the dual-factors theory as the latitudinal perspective, and the exogenous theory of competitive advantage, the competence-based theory, the resource and knowledge-based theory as the longitudinal perspective, this paper sets up a unified analysis frame, and constructs a hierarchy-dynamic evolution model for the study of enterprises' competitive competence, so as to make clear of the perspective of a industry evolution and the springhead of competitive advantage along with competitive disadvantage of an enterprise. As a result, if an enterprise owns advantage only on a single level, it will become provider of special resource and knowledge, intermediate product and service, or the ultimate product and service;and if it owns advantage on two or all three levels, it will evolve into an integral provider. Another result is that these superior resource-competences which are either transactionable or untransactionabl may become the motivation factors of competitive advantage, and those inferior untransactional ones may become the root of competitive disadvantage. The loss aversion theory in hedonomics provides the theoretical foundation for the hygiene factors, and some theoretic and practical results in the field also validatethe existence of hygiene factors. Innovation is main source of the motivation factors. Due to the relationship between cost and fruit of innovation, there exists optimal innovation point, and it will be effective only when the innovation attains or exceeds a specific degree. As a technologic issue, the depth of motivation pit connects with the factors that have been chosen, but not with the taste coefficient coming from specific clients or market. There exists a reverse correlation between the length of motivation pit and the scale of the taste coefficient. When the taste coefficient is less than a specific valve value, innovation or the motivating of hygiene factors will not yield business profit and may be helpless for enterprises to add competitive competence.
