Since the 1990s, the movement of reengineering began to pervade our world. This principle proffered by Michael Hammer and James Champy and aimed at reengineering the business process has drawn the attention of managers and businessmen. Since the advance of this principle, it has now been deeply discussed and widely practiced. Although Hammer and Champy provided us with the concept, content of business reengineering, and the simple methods to put it into practice. Until now, the real effect of business reengineering is far less than we expected. Under modern environment, the traditional process needs to be reengineered, but how to reengineer? What is the key point? What is the pattern after reengineering? All these are ambiguous, so it urged us to probe further the problem of business reengineering, then try to find out the problems lying behind the reengineering, and the new managing pattern under the new circumstances. The paper, by researching reengineering of state owned companies, associates the theories of business reengineering with the practices of those state owned companies, and finds out the suitable patterns of reengineering in state owned companies, finally provides guidance for the further reform of the state owned companies.The thought of business reengineering has an important impact on the further reform of state owned companies.
