At present, compared with the advertisements of other types of commodities, real estate commericials possess the largest amount in newspapers in China and appears with great attractiveness, and most of the public relation activities with top grade focus on the real estate, so that they play a crucial role in advertising industry, and exert a great influence on people's ideology and their values. In current China, people's houses have undoubtedly become the most important symbol for their "social status." As a result, the purchase of houses has become a collective behavior, which consumes the largest amount of money. Therefore, the study of real estate commercials will be much more significant in academics than the advertisements for other types of commodities.The purpose of this dissertation is to use the case of real estate commercials to describe and discuss social and cultural changes in Chinese society in the last decade from the perspectives of sociology and cultural studies.
