Study On The Development Of Multifunctionality Of Urban Agriculture

It is the key field and pioneer issue we are facing with the rapid development of current urban agriculture to expand and develop urban agricultural multifunctionality. Therefore, the supporting theory and technology system are needed to be set up as quickly, in order to improve the sustainable urban agriculture.In this paper, the study on the theories and practice of urban agricultural multifunctionality has been done systematically and deeply, which is based on rural development theory, modern urban agriculture theory, agriculture primary theory, agricultural modernization theory and overall planning urban and rural development theory. The system method, quantity and quality analysis method, structure and stratification analysis methods, standard and practice analysis method has been used in this dissertation as well. Great focused on the models selection, evaluation system, technology backing system, supporting system and development measures have been paid, and three innovation issues are discussed as followings.Firstly, the models selection of urban agricultural multifunctionality has been analyzed systematically. According to the local conditions and standard of local economy, the models of international multifunctionality of agriculture are shown with common and special characters. The case study has been done as the practicing analysis, which is taken Shanghai as an example. China has the basic situation of huge population, comparatively shortage of nature resources, low ecological standing capability, and these determine that the developing models of urban agriculture in China should be quite different from those in other countries. In China, developing urban agriculture have to base on the production and economy function, meanwhile pay attention on functions of ecology, society and culture. Concretely, the typical models are metropolitan agriculture represented by Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, large and medium size urban agriculture represented by some provincial and coastal cities etc. The urban agricultural is transforming into type of multi-industrialization, multifunctionality, high technology and servicing agriculture.Secondly, the comprehensive evaluation system has been set up. Based on making clearly the definination of agricultural multifunctionality, the different function and its system have been comprehensively evaluated from production, ecology, society and culture sides. The level indexed has been tried to set up according to agricultural functions, those are indexes of agricultural economic function, indexes of ecological function, indexes of social function, indexes of cultural function. The judgment matrix has been set up and the weighting coefficients have been defined, those above can be used for assess the real practice of multifunctionality of urban agriculture.Thirdly, the supporting technology system of development of multifunctionality of urban agriculture has been pointed out. The integrated framework of backing technology innovation system, and the supporting system and measures have been put forward, thereby the supporting system has been posed preliminarily, which are based on the study of key technology needs, key technology selection and key technology platform construction. Above all, this study has very important decision value on the models selection of urban agriculture, building integrated evaluation system, posing the supporting technology and policy guaranteeing system, and strong policy directions for promoting multifunctionality of urban agriculture and the sustainable development of multifunctionality of urban agriculture.
