The gas's exploring and exploiting is of great deal technologic and economic consideration. As the link of the chain that brings gas from reservoir to users, long-distance gas pipeline is most important.About the techno-economic characteristics of gas pipeline, in this paper, it is of below content:①about the to be built gas pipeline, with a certain plan transmission quantities and toll criteria, how long is the longest economic distance? how much is the least volume transported?②giving a volume transported and distance, what is the optimum diameter, operating pressure, compression-station quantities, optimum length between compression station?③giving a diameter, what is the gas amount transported with which the diameter is better than the other.④with the variation of the condition in which the gas pipeline is constructed and operated, how would the above optimum parameters be changed?⑤about a gas pipeline to be built, among the future change of internal and outer condition being relevant to managing gas pipeline operation, what is the risk , how is the risk evaluated? These is of reference utility for preliminary feasible study, feasible study and decision-maker doing macro-evaluation about the proper of long-distance gas pipeline to be built or not.The economic evaluation methods & parameters of construction project published by Petrochina, is studied, consequently, investment estimate procedure is set up, its core matter is to estimate the investment of pipeline and compression station. On the base of statistic datum of U.S. gas pipeline construction, the ratio between steel cost and total gas pipeline cost is discovered firstly, the formula estimating compression station investment with power mounted is set forth. The algorithm to find global optimum diameter, pressure, compression stations (that determines compression ratio and range between two stations) are developed. With a number of cases calculated, the equation about the price and volume transmitted is set forth. An optimum diameter table is illustrated. The effect of steel price and fuel gas price change to construction scheme of gas pipeline is calculated. The simulated risk of gas pipeline operation is showed.
