Studies On The Production, Trade And Policy Of Vegetable Industry In China

Vegetables are the indispensable and irreplaceable food in people's daily life. China's Vegetable Industry (CVI) has already formed the scale of sizable industries after more than 20 years of rapid development and expansion. The proportion of its output value to gross agricultural output value has already exceeded 10%, and has become the important component of the whole national economy. Especially under the new situation that we meet the serious challenge of WTO, labor-intensive agricultural products like vegetables have begun to become the focus of agriculture, especially export-oriented agriculture. However, under the new situation that economic globalization and market economic system are perfect day by day, the vegetable industry's industrialization management level is quite low, the questions such as degree of dependence of international market and low scientific and technological content display day by day in the course of developing, and it has restrained the development of CVI and implementation of the " walk out " strategy seriously.Because of this, this paper offers a theory visual angle of looking through the development of CVI through the study of the current Situation and the winds of change of development of CVI, the experience of development of the world's vegetab.le industry and competitiveness of CVI under the condition of two markets both at home and abroad. Then, considering the endogenous and external factors coming from many respects such as the system, technology etc, which is relevant to development of vegetable industry synthetically. Based on the foundation of agricultural household management, in terms of economics, this paper explores the inherent law of the development of CVI and its policy meaning, forms theoretical frame of CVI primarily, and offers scientific theoretical direction and policies for the development of CVI in the next century tentatively. Especially after joining WTO, the international competitiveness of CVI becomes important increasingly. On the basis of exploring current situation, the winds of chang and influential factors of CVI's international competitiveness, this paper draws advanced experiences from the development of foreign vegetable industry, layouts the guidelines and development Strategy for promoting international competitiveness of CVI.This paper is divided into seven chapters altogether. Chapter one is the introduction, which introduces the purpose and meaning of the study recapitulatively. Chapter two is a logic starting point of the subject which evaluates the course and current situation of the development of CVI in terms of history, and makes a clear judgement of historical localization and industry obstacle of the development of CVI. Chapter three carrys on a concluding assess to two respects from supply and demand of Chinese and international market of vegetables. They are the foundation of studying in whole subject. Chapter four uses methods of mathematics and econometrics to analyse the intemational competitiveness of CVI and intemational policy and market environment that'.the CVI's " walk out " strategy faces to. Chapter five carrys on comparative research on industry's development model of the main producing countries of vegetables by abstract analysis method and comparative analysis method, and attempts to offer reference to structure the industrialization mode of vegetables with Chinese characteristics. On the basis of several chapters which are analysed in the front, chapter six probes into the key component of China's vegetable industrialization management development, synthetically. They are foundation stones of structuring the industrialization management monde of vegetables with Chinese characteristics, so they can offer the organizational, institutional, technological and-managerial guarantee for the development of CVI. The final foothold lies in the directive significance to the macro economic policy, namely chapter seven is the benign coupling to industrialization and policy of CVI on the basis of conclusion review. This paper tries hard to realize the new break-through in following respects on the basis of drawing lessons from relevant research results at home and abroad.(1)This paper carrys on economic analysis and policy research to the development of CVI by the theory and analytical method of economics roundly and systematacially. We hope eagerly to form the theoretical research frame of "economics of CVI" tentatively through this research, and to make every effort to open up the growing point of new discipline.(3)This paper analyses issues synthetically by basic theories of economics, agricultural economics, institutional economics, econometrics, regional economics, international trade and gardening, etc. and solves the problem by quantitative analysis combined with qualitative analysis and standardization combined with real examples. This is characteristic and innovative on research approach.(4)The final foothoid of this paper is a strategic choice of the development of CVI. On the basis of practical selection and future trend of CVI, the research analyzes the impact of WTO on the development of CVI and corresponding countermeasures. In detail, the analysis of the ruture trend will determine the institutional and technological selection of future CVI, while that of transition economy and rulesand regulations of WTO decide the strategic frame and countermeasures.
