The Study On The Stuation And Development Of Guangxi's Vegetable Industry

Along with the regional plantation structure adjustment and improvement in recent years, Guangxi's vegetable industry has witnessed rapid development and now becomes the leading industry that helps increasing fanners' income in the region. However, the national strategic economic structure adjustment, the development of vegetable industry in other provinces and the establishment of China-Asean Free Trade Area (CAFTA) bring both good opportunities and serious challenges for Guangxi's vegetable industry.This paper analyzes the history, the development status quo, the development potential and advantages, and main restrictive facts of Guangxi's vegetable industry by adopting both analytic method and quantitative method with the combination of the analysis of status quo and prediction on the basis of available data, starting from the study of comparative advantages of vegetable industry. The results of the study are ass follows:1. It reveals that Guangxi has significant regional comparative advantages in vegetable growing in China and is highly competitive in developing vegetable industry. Winter and autumn vegetable industry, which makes up 70% of the total vegetable growing area, is the most competitive industry that reflects the comparative advantages and development potential of Guangxi's vegetable industry, and enjoys great competitive advantages in nature condition, ecological environment, production cost, and in international market such as ASEAN market. It reaveals that the 6 areas ^ 1 of EF and LQ analysis, they are respectively Hezhou, Guiliin, Liuzhou, Nanning, Wuzhou and Beihai, it means that these areas have competive advantages in vegetable industry development in Guangxi.2. The vegetable especially the winter and autumn vegetable has great development potential in the seasonal and special condition, production process for marketing oriented purpose and to develop market of China-Asean Free Trade Area (CAFTA).3. The constraints for vegetable development in Guangxi are the lower technical input, lower quality of the production, the conflict of seasonal and structure in vegetable production, lack of input, weakness of infrastructure, natural disasters, scattered management, lower industrial production and management chain and immature market etc.On the basis of analyzing Guangxi's comparative advantages in winter and autumn vegetable planting, this paper provides Guangxi's regional vegetable industry planning scheme and measures for the sustainable development of Guangxi's vegetable industry under the situation of China's WTO accession and the establishment of China-ASEAN free trade area.
