The Current Situation And Strategy For The Development Of Fruit And Vegetable In Ruian County

China has become the world’s largest base for fruit and vegetable products and the industry of fruit and vegetable has become the second pillar industry in Chinese agriculture industry. The development of fruit and vegetable industry is significant for Chinese agriculture industry because it can ease of agriculture, farmers and rural issues fundamentally. As the development of China’s fruit and vegetable industry, many towns in China are planning to adjust and upgrade the structure of fruit and vegetable industry such that fruit and vegetable industry could make greater contribution to the national economy. However, as resource prices increased and increasingly competitive domestic and international markets, the development of fruit and vegetable is facing unprecedented challenges.In order to deal with the difficulties of the development of fruit and vegetable industry effectively, this paper took fruit and vegetable industry in Mayu Town of Ruian County as an example to investigate how to promote the development of fruit and vegetable industry. Based on the practices and the theory regarding the development of fruit and vegetable industry, such as the theory of economies of scale and division of labor theory, this study investigated the situation of the development of fruit and vegetable industry in Mayu Town of Ruian county by using the method of quantitative and qualitative analysis. In addition, this study analyzed the existing problems for the development of fruit and vegetable industry in Mayu Town of Ruian County and proposed effective countermeasures in order to promote the development of fruit and vegetable industry in Mayu Town of Ruian County. These countermeasures would be helpful for Mayu Town to adjust and upgrade the structure of fruit and vegetable industry and achieve maximum economic efficiency and make greater contribution to the local economy.Through a questionnaire survey, this study found some issues of the development of fruit and vegetable industry in Mayu Town, Ruian County. Firstly, the fruit and vegetable production needs to be improved and the priority to efficiency consciousness needs to be enhanced. There is no long-term planning for the development of fruit and vegetable industry. Furthermore, the funding is insufficient for the development of fruit and vegetable industry in Mayu Town of Ruian County. What’s more, processing capacity of fruit and vegetable products is low and processing technology should be improved. In addition, fruit and vegetable products brand creation needs to be strengthened. Through in-depth analysis of these issues, we propose the following suggestions. Firstly, Ruian County should improve the quality of fruit and vegetable production.And enhance the priority to efficiency consciousness of the production. Ruian county should develop long-term planning for the development of fruit and vegetable industry. Furthermore, Ruian county should establish special funds to support fruit and vegetable industry. At the same time, Mayu Town should develop large processing enterprises in fruit and vegetable and create new circulation methods for fruit and vegetable products. What’s more, Mayu town should establish fruit and vegetable production specifications and quality standards and focus on fruit and vegetable products brand building. In addition, Mayu Town should also watch the market of fruit and vegetable in order to optimize the structure of fruit and vegetable varieties. These proposed measures would be helpful for the development of fruit and vegetable industry in other cities of China.
