The Research And Implement Of Product Configuration Management Based On Tabular Layouts Of Article Characteristics

Product Data Management (PDM) is a technology to manage product-related information and processes throughout the product lifecycle. Product Configuration Management (PCM) is the core of PDM. With the strategy of "theory discussion +prototype research +application verification", production configuration, product model, configuration rules and solution algorithm are researched in detail. Based on the summarization of the PCM development tendency, some problems that Product Configuration Management has to face to are pointed out. Based on the product information model, the method of product configuration based on product model and configuration rules are proposed, and the basic process of product configuration is given. Then the product configuration according to the product model is classified. Because the core of product configuration is BOM (Bill of Material), the product integrated framework based on BOM is presented. Since product model is the base of product configuration, a new product model based on Tabular Layouts of Article Characteristics is proposed. And a deep research is taken on configuration process and configuration rules expression based on this product model. Further, a new system structure of PDM is presented, using the Product Configuration Management as the core. Moreover the objects of PCM are analyzed, and the corresponding algorithm is given. The functions, module division and data structure of PCM are discussed in detail. Also the affectivity of PCM is illustrated through some applications. Finally, the conclusion is given and some future work is discussed.
