This dissertation mainly focuses on how FDI affects China's technological progress through the ways the domestic enterprises improve their technologies. At first, a theoretical model is established, which demonstrates how FDI affects the host country's technological progress. Then the current study empirically analyses China's technological progress as a result of the effects from FDI.The analysis contributes to the conclusions as follows:A. Since the implementation of China's opening and reform policies, FDI has improved China's technologies.B. Technoly spillover effects of FDI obviously exist, but the effects are weak, furthermore, the effects mainly are embodied by competition effects.C.Foreign enterprises'tangible technology introduction obviously improves China's technology progress, but the degree of the improvement is not high; Foreign enterprises'intangible technology introduction doesn't obviously wok on China's technology progress.D. FDI facilitates the improvement of research and development of domestic enterprises.E. FDI reduces the dependence of domestic enterprises on external technologies.Given the conclusions made, the dissertation makes the following suggestions concerning policies:A. Domestic enterprises should rely on their own innovations for technological progress, while placing emphasis on the import and utilization of technologies and availing themselves of technological spillover in the process of economic globalization.B. Foreign funds should be further taken in, domestic and foreign-funds enterprises should be treated equally, and guides and regulations should be given to foreign-funds enterprises.
