Since the market reform, Chinese enterprise leaders, along with their companies, have become maturer and form an elite group which enjoys good fame in business world in both China and abroad. Most of the leaders learned management and leadership skills from their personal experience in the changing context of the market, rather than systematic academic resources. In this sense, does the influence of Chinese enterprise leaders also differ from their western counterparts'? Most examples show that Chinese entrepreneurs have been greatly influenced by traditional culture. For instance, Liu Chuanzhi of Lenovo once expressed his ambition as developing Lenovo into a reliable, respectable, distinctive company with global influence in many industries. However, how to improve and develop distinctive influence is still a big issue for corporate leaders.There are multiple sources for leaders gaining influence. One of the important sources is the power of leaders. In Zaleznik's view, power is an indispensable part in an organization, and an organization is a political system. Therefore, understanding these two concepts is very important for organizational leaders.Many researchers argued that power and influence are the core part of the role of leaders, and the power of leader is based on the need of followers, so leaders could influence followers by applying power which derived from different sources. Based on such arguments, by reviewing existing research on the effectiveness of leadership, this thesis put leadership influence as the center of the research, discussed different sources of power which leads to influence, made up the research model of the relation between leadership power and leadership influence, Given several hypothesis based on previous research results at first ,then this thesis proved all hypothesis through case research and analysis. The results demonstrated that the leadership influence brings by un-position power is greater than the one brings by on-position power,meanwhile,the different combinations of un-position and on-position power induce to different leadership influence. Therefore demonstrated the relation between different power combinations and leadership influence which could be understood as the effectiveness of leadership, and finally suggested the strategies for improving power and influence for enterprises leaders from a combination of sociological, psychological, organizational behavioral, and leadership studies perspectives.
