Application Research On Structural Modularization Of Modern American Style Furniture

Nowadays, the consumption and exporting pattern of world furniture have basically evolved, only in the year of 2007, the total export amount of Chinese furniture have reached 23.2 billion US Dollars which ranked first in the whole world; especially Modern American Style furniture; However, how to realize the transformation of export way of growth from quantity to quality is still the tough question that many furniture manufacturers have to face, undoubtedly, the best way is the constant technological innovation, especially the furniture structural modularization, which is also the source of this research. This dissertation has studied on the structural modularization of Modern American Style furniture by applying the principles and methods of modularization, the final results and conclusions are as below:(1)Modern American Style furniture have been reformed to fit in with American immigration culture and residential character on the basis of England-France furniture with classical style, firstly, it is reflected on the size and volume of furniture after reformation which is larger than before; secondly, it is focusing on function of furniture, giving much emphasis on rationality and scientific principle. Thirdly, in order to highlight the economical principle, it is adopting new technology, new material, new craft to reduce cost at maximum extent, practiced the principle from Arts and Crafts campaign, that is"Arts service for people", so it is absolutely the model that result from the integration of Arts and technology.(2)The conclusions below were reached based on generalization and analysis of the raw material of Modern American Style furniture: it is noted that the raw material species just changed a little bit though nearly 400 years development, which is focusing on American broad leaf hardwood. It is not until the recent years, with the progress in processing technology, it is quite popular to use man-made wooden panel, especially preferred flowered pattern embedded within veneers; which lead to the special demand to the size and category of hardware accessories.(3)The structural modularization of dinning chair was applied in the process of studying Modern American Style, it could be divided into five categories by back shape, including ladder back chair, ornamental engraving back chair, slats back chair, circle back chair and upholstered back chair; If divided by parts, they could be back, seats and upholster; this dissertation is conducting the structural modularization separately, thus extract the designing regulation of structural modularization of dinning chair with American style.(4)The structural modularization of dinning table was applied in the process of studying Modern American Style, selecting two typical kinds for research, dinning table with leg or pedestal column; According to its different structure, this dissertation is conducting systematic mode decomposition and particular design, dinning table module has been built by using modularization design methods.(5)The structural modularization of bed was applied in the process of studying Modern American Style, which have confirmed that mattress size is the basis for design, this dissertation is selecting three typical kinds to do the research, post bed, sleigh bed and panel bed under the guide of modularization theory in order to have series researches on structural modularization, Modern American Style bed module has been built by using modularization design methods.(6)The dissertation is combining actual conditions and tough technical problems that manufacturers usually faced after adjusting new technologies to local conditions and assimilating and reforming to second innovation, the result has strong practicability, it provide operational applicable technological theory to operation at scale and professional production of Chinese furniture manufacturers.
