A Study On Innovative Development Of Small And Medium Enterprises

The study on innovative development of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) has been one of the hot topics from the perspectives of theoretical and industrial professionals. The dissertation focuses on the theoretical views that innovation is dynamic power and origin of enterprise development. A depth study is conducted to explore the following questions under consideration of characteristics of SMES, more attentions are paid to the questions as why SMEs innovate, how they innovate, how effective innovation improves development, that is, the dynamic power of innovation, innovation strategy, improvement of innovation capabilities and performance. It aims to provide theoretical guidance and basis for formulating policy by government authority.The dissertation draws heavily from the fields of innovation economics, industrial economics, enterprises economics, meanwhile it approaches these problems, with various studying methods, such as systematic approach, empirical analysis and comparison to explore innovation dynamic power, innovation strategy, innovation capability, cluster and their influence. The dissertation consists of eight chapters. Chapter 1 Introduction; chapter 2 systematically analyzes theoretical views of innovative development of SMEs, it lays theoretical foundation for follow-up study. It is the core contents from chapter 3 to chapter 6. Chapter 3 analyzes the core factors of innovation dynamic power of SMEs, puts forwards to construct appropriate dynamic power model. Constructs "one-dimension as key body, multiple-dimension as support" model, taking innovator (entrepreneurs) as mainstay, innovation opportunity, innovation environment and innovation assistant system as support, reveals operating mechanism of innovation dynamic power. Chapter 4 classifies innovation strategy from different perspectives, analyzes the characteristics of SMEs' development strategy. Constructs systems of innovation strategy according to its dynamic capability. Put forwards the view of matching its own conditions and characteristics to suitable development model. Imitation is necessary path, independent innovation is the next goal, cooperation innovation is the best way to choose for SMEs. Chapter 5 analyzes factors of innovation capability, explains innovation process and its evaluation index, and constructs innovation capability evaluation system on the basis of innovation process, illustrates the influences of innovation capability to development. Chapter 6 analyzes cluster innovation mechanism from the perspectives of self-organized process model and cluster competitive advantages. Analyzes cluster performance from positive and negative views. Analyzes characteristics of cluster innovation network, analyzes key body of cluster and its inter-relation. Constructs cluster innovation system. Chapter 7 is either application of theory or verification of theory. Taking Shenyang SMEs as example, analyzes influences of innovation to development, as well as the key problems existing in the following aspects as innovation dynamic power, innovation strategy, innovation capability, innovation performance. Puts forward suitable countermeasures to innovation development of SMEs.Breakthroughs and innovative views made in this dissertation include: constructs suitable dynamic power model by integrating internal and external dynamic factors; constructs innovation development models according to characteristic and innovation strategy chosen; constructs evaluation system of innovation capability on the basis of innovation process, puts forwards cluster is the best way to improve innovation performance and produce competitive advantages for SMEs.
