| A common phenomenon in China’s highway is overloaded vehicles, and now it shows a growing trendency. The outstanding performance of traffic conditions is "overloaded" on our country at present. Specifically in terms of Henan Province, as the temperatures of summer are high, rainfall concentrated, a large amount of heavy-duty trunk road traffic is also a serious problem. Therefore, the main problems of the asphalt pavement are how to improve high temperature stability and the ability of anti-water damage of asphalt pavement.Because the asphalt concrete structural layer using hard asphalt binder has a higher modulus, a strong high-temperature anti-rutting, capacity of load-bearing and transferring the load to the lower, at the same time, thick asphalt and aggregates have a good bonding properties, it is applicable to highway pavement structure under the condition of heavy- traffic. Hard asphalt can reduce the construction cost and difficulty compared to the modified asphalt.Thesis carried out through taking methods of extensive research, theoretical analysis, laboratory testing and field trials, together with building experimental road etc.A conclusion is the asphalt should be PG70-16 through investing the temperature conditions and heavy traffic conditions. Also the asphalt such as 30# should be classified accordance with PG.The article improve the traditional Marshall method on the basis of Bailey method, and carry out the asphalt mix design to the surface layer of the testing sections with this method.The law of asphalt mixture nonlinear evolution of fatigue damage has been revealed through large amounts of fatigue tests. Based on the common evolution of fatigue damage, a related fatigue equation has been put forward which is comply with the fatigue evolution law better. The S-N fatigue equation of high modulus asphalt mixtures is obtained firstly, and a new formula has been established to offset the lack of current specifications in this aspect, which improve the precision and accuracy in axle load conversion. The article has carried out the mechanical analysis of high modulus asphalt pavement structure and revealed the mechanical properties. The study has shown that high-modulus asphalt pavement has a strong anti-rutting performance, while improve the overall stress state.The article has carried out systematic experimental study to pavement performance, including the high-temperature performance tests, water stability test, anti-aging test, low temperature crack resistance test and fatigue test, which provide an important basis for the design of structure and materials in the testing section road. Through the construct of the testing section, the key technologies of construction quality control in high modulus asphalt pavement.The paper focus on hard asphalt pavement structural design and materials and construction techniques, the results not only provide economic and reliable guarantee of the quality of asphalt pavement in Henan Province, and reduce the road early losses, improve the road service life ,ensure the smooth flow of the road traffic and safety; It can enhance the technical level of asphalt pavement structural design and materials applying in Henan province greatly, promote transportation construction and economy developed rapidly and healthy in Henan Province. In this paper, it provides a scientific basis for the hard asphalt of successful application in construction or reconstruction, and provides a solid foundation of application theory and practice for the specification of the hard asphalt.Hard asphalt’s high temperature performance is very good, but its low-temperature properties are not ideal, especially its extension do not meet the requirement far from.
