Modern architectural education, as an important component of architecturesystem, plays a key role in promoting the development of modern Chinesearchitecture. Since the end of Qing Dynasty, modern Chinese architecture hadexperienced the reconstruction of discipline affected by western countries. Meanwhile,modern architectural education changed from traditional master and apprentice tomodern school education. In the process, civil engineering had a great effect onarchitecture. So it is imperative that we enlarge our eyesight and make a research onarchitecture with more open perspective.By analyzing reconstruction of modern Chinese civil engineering discipline andits education, the thesis expounds the effects of civil engineering education onGuiMao school system and modern college system, and then confirms its status inmodern college education. The thesis analyzes the effect of architectural educationpatterns in western countries on modern Chinese architectural education. From theperspective of concept, technology, institution, education and professionalorganization, the thesis demonstrates the intrinsic positive connection betweenChinese architectural education and civil engineering education. The thesis examinesthe advantages and disadvantages of the education pattern that attaches greatimportance to technology and engineering and aims to foster professional architects.On this basis, the thesis points out the historical reasonability beyond the phenomenaand also criticizes the lack of technological consideration in present academiceducation pattern. The thesis proposes that present architectural education shouldreturn to the essence of architecture during diversified and open education course.By collecting and studying historically original data, the thesis examines thepractice of modern architectural education in Jing-Jin-Ji district from the perspectiveof interaction between architecture and civil engineering. The thesis cards andanalyses the produce of architectural education pattern focused on technology andengineering. On this basis, the thesis explores rich contents beyond historyphenomena and then summarizes its lessons to present architectural education.
