Urban Space Yingzao Of Zhenjiang City

This dissertation comes from the case study series on Urban Space Development in Chinese cites led by professor Zhao Bing. Located in the southwest of Jiangsu province and the intersection of Yangtse River and Beijing-Hangzhou Canal, Zhenjiang is an ancient city possessing a history of more than3000years, and then, Zhenjiang was authorized one of the historic and cultural cities in China in1986. The evolution of the Zhenjiang urban spatial morphology has different origins and mechanism at various period from the ancient time to today. The culture, politics, religions and economic activities and so on will influence the urban space Yingzao activities. In this article, the culture at different development periods, including environmental culture and humane culture, was selected as the main factors, also considered as the starting point. Finally, combined with the other influence factors, this article aims to find the future directions of urban space Yingzao of Zhenjiang city by studying the history of urban space transformation.The first part is an introduction, the first chapter of the article. This chapter discusses the research background and research purposes, and then, describes the current situation of Zhenjiang urban development issues, as well as the development and trend of the domestic and international theory in urban planning and urban design. Finally, the background of geography and the social environment of Zhenjiang was discussed, and the base definitions and the frame of dissertation were explained.The second part of the article was the study of urban space Yingzao of ancient Zhenjiang city, including chapters2to4. The second chapter describes the origins of the Zhenjiang city and the early settlement changes in pre-Warring States period, and explores the Zhenjiang space construction under the influence of natural environment and Hushu culture. Chapter3discusses the Urban Space Yingzao of Zhenjiang City during the period of Warring States and Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, with an emphasis on the Yingzao of Tieweng City and the north section of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The fourth chapter studies Zhenjiang urban space Yingzao during the periods of the Song Dynasty and the late Qing Dynasty. Focuses on the expansion of Run city in Song Dynasty and the changes of city in Ming and Qing Dynasty, which reveals the urban prosperity and decay under the influence of Jiangnan culture and Canal culture.The third part discussed the urban space Yingzao in Zhenjiang city in capitalist times. The urban space Yingzao of Zhenjiang from1859to1919was studied in Chapter5, first of all, the evolution of urban space, the Concession District and Wharf after the revolution of1911was introduced, and then revealed the urban space Yingzao activities under the influence of Western Cultures.The fourth part describes the urban space Yingzao of Zhenjiang city in modern times. It was studied in Chapter6and7. Chapter6describes the urban space Yingzao from1919to1949. The urban planning implementation was introduced in the Republic of China Period, and then, the political factors on the promotion of activities of Zhenjiang urban Yingzao and the destruction of natural environment and historical heritage were discussed. It was analyzed in Chapter7the urban space evolution in Zhenjiang from1949to1979and the activities of urban Yingzao in early stage of industrialization in China.The fifth part comprised the urban space Yingzao of Zhenjiang city in present ages. The urban space Yingzao from1979to2009and the regulations of space game in the growth period of Global culture were researched in Chapter8. The significance of influence of Wu culture in Zhenjiang urban space Yingzao was revealed in the conclusion. The models of urban space Yingzao in Zhenjiang was summarized in Chapter IX, representing the Wu culture and multi-ethic cultures. Based on these models, the forecast of urban space Yingzao of Zhenjiang city in coming30years was expressed in Chapter X.
