The research on the traditional village form has always been a hot spot forresearchers. Pear River Delta, as a advanced place of reform and open policy, developsrapidly in economic, social, cultural and other fields. Influenced by urbanization, the scaleand form of the traditional village developed and evolved constantly, which is closelyrelated with the construction of cities and towns. By the survey and research on thetraditional villages in Pearl River Delta, this paper analyzes the difference of outer suburbsvillage, urban fringe village and urban village in morphological characteristics anddevelopment trend to see the development and evolution of village and revealmorphological evolution rule. This will has great significance for us to better protect anddevelop the resources of traditional village to find their embedded value.This research selects31sampling points from the traditional villages in Pearl RiverDelta. They can be classified into outer suburbs village, urban fringe village and urbanvillage. The research uses a combination of architectural method, morphological method,fractal theory and other methods to study the formation and arrangement of spatial form ofthe traditional villages in Pearl River Delta. Besides, it describes, analyzes and studies theevolution and dynamic mechanism of their spatial form to explore the regulation principleand technological means applied in the development of the traditional villages in PearlRiver Delta. All of these can provide reference for the sustainable development of thetraditional village, and these also provide decision basis for the construction of socialismnew countryside.According to the research framework, the paper focuses on discussing the followingthree aspects: 1. The paper summarizes main research method and result in current traditionalvillage form. Based on architectural research method, the paper proposes a combination ofinter-discipline and multi-angle to analyze and evaluate the traditional village form byusing other disciplinary theory and technological means for reference. Then, the papermakes urbanization as research background and selects Pearl River Delta as researchsample to explore the development rule of the traditional village form in Pearl River Deltaas well as their controllable characteristics and countermeasures.2. By the survey and research on the traditional villages in Pearl River Delta, thepaper points out that influenced by the natural environment and traditional culture ofLingan, the traditional villages in Pearl River Delta have harmony between human andnature; the order and structure of their village layout are unified; the villages have featuredarchitectural form and decorative style; the village construction pays attention to defensesystem. At the same time, according to the relative positional relation between thetraditional village and urban built-up area, the paper classifies the current traditionalvillages into outer suburbs village, urban fringe village and urban village. Then, the paperdoes survey and analysis on their development situation and evolution cause.
