Human activities produced huge greenhouse gas emissions in the past years which had changed the climate and the natural environment of the world. Under the traditional understanding, all landscape designs should have positive social effects and balance carbon and oxygen of urban. Urban landscapes through photosynthesis absorbed CO2 from the air and released O2 making fresh air. But the truth was that like other human activities,in the life cycle of landscape also produced a large amounts of CO2.Thus, based on the concept of sustainable landscape construction,our research discussed low carbon construction system and strategies and research was divided into three parts:Firstly, according to the related concept of the building in the life cycle, CO2 emission was an important index to evaluate the environment load caused by the human activities. We divided the life cycle of building into material production phase, construction phase, daily use and maintenance phase, and renewal and demolition phase. At the same time, we listed all the related calculation formula and the influence factors of every stage.Secondly, with the sustainable landscape as the foundation, we summarized the related concepts of low carbon landscape. On the basis of current established CO2 evaluation system of landscape and reference to the life cycle CO2 evaluation system of building, we put forward the CO2 life cycle evaluation system of landscape which divided into carbon sources and carbon sinks. In the CO2 life cycle assessment of landscape, carbon sources mainly focused on landscape material production, landscape construction, landscape maintenance, and landscape renewal and demolition. Based on the analysis of carbon sources, and considering these aspects of sustainable landscape evaluation system, we proposed the principles and enlightenment of reducing carbon sources. In the CO2 life cycle assessment of landscape, carbon sinks mainly focused on landscape green plant on the ground, recycled material, and renewable energy. We introduced green plant carbon sequestration calculation software and method and did analyze of other factors which had closed relationship with the increasing of carbon sinks.Thirdly, we proposed comparison method of carbon sources and carbon sinks of landscape life cycle, and took Tianjin Shi Linyuan residential district landscape as an example to do the analysis of carbon sinks and carbon sources on the basis of investigation result. We got the result that the carbon sources and carbon sinks could be in balance when the residential district was up to 40 years. For this situation, we analyzed the carbon sources and carbon sinks under the condition of reconstruction, and got the result that the carbon source and carbon sink of residential district in the life cycle should be in balance in the 20 th year of their life years according to the proposed related strategies of reducing carbon sources and increasing carbon sinks. Therefore, it was to reduce the carbon sources of landscape by effective measures and improve the carbon sinks in landscape in order to make the landscape of residential district achieve better ecological benefit.Finally, according to the above research result and on the basis of the low carbon landscape standard system under the idea of sustainable idea, we put forward strategies of low carbon landscape construction. Strategies of low carbon landscape construction concluded two aspects: the subject of policy enforcement and the detailed low carbon landscape construction system with landscape elements.
