Object:Qing jinchangfei decoction is a empirical precription on treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), having curative effect on treating acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD)due to phlegm-heat accumulated in the lung. It observes monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP-1)、interleukin-8(IL-8)、matrix metalloproteinase (MMP-9) and tissue metalloproteinase inhibitor-1 (TIMP-1) to explore Qing jinchangfei decoction’s influence and mechanism on airway inflammation and airway remodling of COPD rat model.Methods:60 rats were divided into two parts, the one part belong to control group having ten rats,then second part was divided into five groups, which including model group、small、medium% large dosage of Qingjinchangfei decoction groups and roxithromycin group.Except of control group, the others were fumigated by tobacco leaves and sulfur and nasal dropped by Diplococcus pneumoniae to copy COPD rat models due to phlegm-heat accumulated in the lung.It observes the Qing jinchangfei decoction’s influence to pulmonary function、pathologic morphology、Pulmonary collagen fiber(Masson Dyeing)、cell classification in Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid (BALF)、MCP-1、IL-8、MMP-9、TIMP-1 and TGF-βmRNA of COPD rat models.Results:1.Qingjinchangfei decoction makes pulmonary function、pathologic morphology better and reduces pulmonary collagen fiber. There was a remarkable difference between model groups (P<0.01-0.05). The medium and large dosage of Qingjinchangfei decoction groups are better than others, which are similar to or better than roxithromycin group.2.Qingjinchangfei decoction can reduce inflammatory cells in BALF at different degree. There was a remarkable difference between model groups (P<0.01). The medium dosage of Qingjinchangfei decoction groups was better than others. There was not a remarkable difference between roxithromycin group and it (P<0.05).3.Qingjinchangfei decoction can reduce IL-8、MCP-1 in blood. Inhibit expression of MMP-9、TIMP-1 and TGF-βmRNA. There was a remarkable difference between model groups (P<0.01). The medium and large dosage of Qingjinchangfei decoction groups are better than others,which are similar to roxithromycin group (P<0.05).Conclusion:Qing jinchangfei decoction has influence on airway inflammation and airway remodling of COPD rat model.The mechanism may be related to relieving airway inflammation,reducing inflammatory factors, improving Extracellular Matrix disorder and reducing fibrocyte and collagen cells, which can intervene and delay airway remodeling.
