This paper is based on a reflection to a series of issues. The first is the worriment of Chinese literature status. The second is the ecological crisis. The third is that ecological thought turns to the realm of humanity. Ecological situation in the literature modernity is the central topic of this study. The author tries to discover the natural dimension in Chinese literature evolution in the20century, As well as look into the role and status of natural aesthetic in the20century’s modernism discourse.The symptoms of20century’s Chinese literature are also revealed in this study in order to find a route to regain the poetic shine of Chinese literature.The paper comprises seven parts:an introduction,5body chapters and a conclusion.The introduction makes clear of the concepts concerning research of domestic and abroad, the methodology, and the structure of the paper.The first chapter:Natural aesthetic in the Enlightenment Discourse. Under the background of Enlightenment modernity, the concepts of science, democracy and individual liberty uprooted Chinese traditional human-nature harmonious culture. Authors with natural aesthetic taste and their works weremarginalized.The second chapter:Natural Aesthetic in the Political Modernity Discourse. Under the rule of political modernity discourse, natural aesthetic was a backwards culture, which became the boundary of the populace taste and the bourgeois taste. As a result, natural aesthetic was not appreciated by the advanced literature. Natural aesthetic found no place while "red" literature was flooding.The third chapter:changing the nature--Natural Aesthetic in the "new working landscape". This chapter the concepts of "working" and "landscape" in the modernity discourse was analyzed in order to show the secondary status of nature to the so called labor liberty.The forth chapter:nature in the lyricism modernity discourse. Different from the traditional lyricism literature, in which people perused a state of "ego lost", modern literature’s personae became human-oriented and self-boasting. This chapter the differences of lyrical content, and lyrical, pattern and effect between the contemporary poetry and fiction are analyzed.The fifth chapter:nature in the space modernity discourse. Modern space has been divided into two groups of binary opposition:the east and the west, the urban and the rural, which actually implied the superiority of modern industry civilization to the agricultural civilization. Desires had been greatly liberated according to the logic of modernity. Nature and country were driven out by consumerism and urbanization movement. Literature fell into an "ended" complex.Conclusion:the re-enchantment of nature and regaining of poetic spirit. Modernity should transfer from politics and material discourse into thought, culture and conductive mode. We call for a refreshment of Chinese literature and culture status by a nature-friendly concept.
