On The Significant Anthologies Of Tang-Song Ci Since The Republic Of China

Anthology is one of the most important means for the transmission and thecriticism of the literature works. Since the Republic of China,the function of anthologyabout Tang-Song Ci showed its transformation more modernized than before.Since the20th century, Tang-Song Ci anthologies are not only the important means ofcontemporary to readers,but also have reflected the transformation of Literary andartistic ideas in the20th cengtury.On the other hand, most of the contemporaryTang-Song Ci anthologies are written by scholars, they embody their research results.The thesis uses the methods of macro summarized and micro-analysis, throughsummarizing general picture integrally and analysising several sinigficant Tang-Song Cianthologies in depth,we describe the development trajectory about the Tang-Song Cianthologies since the Republic of China. This thesis consists of three aspects,such aspreface,main body, epilogue.The preface mainly states the topic selection significance,the interall design,and summarizes the research status.The epilogue generalizes thedevelopment law and the historical significance about Tang-Song Ci anthologies sincethe Republic of China in brief.The main body includes eleven chapters,which we divideinto two aspects.The first part contains four chapters, three chapters in the front respectively discussTang-Song Ci anthologies’ styles and features according to three phases:the period inthe Republic of China (1911-1949),thirty years after the foundation of NewChina(1949-1979), since the new period(after1979).In the first period, Tang-Song Cianthologies transformed from tradition to modern. The purpose and types of anthologiesbecame variety. Vernacular anthologies and comment anthologies represented the newdirection of Tang-Song Ci anthologies, anthologies of writting Ci guidance reflecttraditional scholars’ devotion to save the Ci writing,their attemptation to popularize theCi writing.In the second period, because of politicized and utilitarian environment ofartistic literature, Tang-Song Ci anthologies are fewer in quantity and single in type.Scholars laid particular stress on ideological value,so they chose more heroic Ciand folk Ci,and the focus of Ci anthologies changed from selection to annotation. In thethird period, with the opening environment,literary and artistic ideas becamediversified.The Tang-Song Ci anthologies boomed again.Many Ci anthologies wereconpiled and published,and different people conpiled Ci anthologies,whosepurpose,types and modes of transmission were diversified.Based on above threechapters, the fourth chapter macroly summarizes the development trajectory, thehistorical and cultural significance of Tang-Song Ci anthologies since the Repubic ofChina.The second part contains seven chapters,they are all case studies.Including ZhuZumou’s Three Hundred of Song Ci,Hu Shi’s Ci Anthology,Long Yusheng’s TheAnthology of Famous Tang-Song Ci,Hu Yunyi’s Song Ci Anthology,Yu Pingbo’sSelection and Annotation of Tang-Song Ci,Tang Guizhang’s Briefly Explaination ofTang-Song Ci, Appreciation Directionary of Tang-Song Ci and so on. Three Hundred ofSong Ci collected the results of the previous Ci anthologies,Mr Zhu selected worksprecisely, and the collation was prudently,so it is the finality of traditional Cianthologies. Hu Shi’s Ci Anthology propagated the concept of vernacular Ci history,andit adopted new style earlier,so it is the model of pathbreaking modern Ci anthologies.Long Yusheng’s purpose of selection Ci was reflecting the Ci history really,so itsselecting standard was famous Ci,and it labeled on the rhyme,so it is beneficial towriting and reading Ci. Hu Yunyi’s Song Ci Anthology selected works precisely, theannotation was in detail,it contented the readers’ need and branded the “left” ideologicaltrend of distinct mark,so it is a widespread Ci anthology which half gained but half lost.Yu Pingbo’s Ci Anthology, it not only emphasized ideological value,but also surpassedthe time,it selected Ci widely and annotated deeply,and it contained Ci appreciationmethod,so it is particular in the thirty years after the foundation of New China. TangGuizhang’s Ci anthology inherited the thought of Chang Zhou Ci School late Qingdynasty, it inaugurated a new type of Ci anthology,so it is significant.AppreciationDirectionary of Tang-Song Ci is Ci anthology, and is also directionary.it contains richcontents,and it is popular in the readers,so it is an agglomeration of works in the appreciation of Ci.Through the above elaboration, we can get the conclusion, Since the Republic ofChina, Anthologies of Tang-Song Ci were influenced by the political thought andhistorical context. Anthologies of Tang-Song Ci reflected the process of ci-poetrycriticism “modernization” in the20th century.Their purpose,types,styles and so on werediversification.With the decline of writing Ci and the popularity of cultural education,the function of Tang-Song Ci anthologies transformed greatly,it didn’t guidecreation,but spreaded culture, Accordingly,the focus of the styles changedfundamentally from selecting to annotation.
