The Epochal Characteristics Of Word Using Convention Of Interchangeable Ancient Characters In Western And Eastern Zhou Period

Interchangeability of characters may be inevitably encountered in readingancient literatures, so it’s necessary to do some study. In recent decades, with moreunearthed materials on ancient characters having been found along with thearchaeological advance, many researchers found the sociality of interchangeabilityof characters, word using convention, which leads to a large quantity of significantresearch findings. Compared with the study of ancient characters in other fields, thestudy of word using convention of interchangeability of characters is not enough,and there is still a long way to fully understand word using convention in the past.So it’s necessary to make a summary of the past habit of using words, especially thehabit of using interchangeability of characters in Western and Eastern Period. On thisaccount, the dissertation attempts to summarize and analyze overall word usingconvention of interchangeable ancient characters in Western and Eastern Period, inhope of providing convenience and reference for future researches on ancientcharacters.The dissertation includes the following parts.The introductory part elaborates some important terms, the study state of thefield, purpose and significance, data and materials and study methods of existingresearches.The first chapter gives a summary of the characteristic of interchangeabilityphenomenon of ancient characters, presents a systematic probe into interchangeableancient characters in Western Zhou Dynasty.The second chapter gives a summary of the characteristic of interchangeabilityphenomenon of ancient characters, presents a systematic probe into interchangeableancient characters in Spring and Autumn Period.The third chapter gives a summary of the characteristic of interchangeabilityphenomenon of ancient characters, presents a systematic probe into interchangeableancient characters in Warring States Period.The fourth chapter, on the basis of the first three chapters, provides an analysisof interchangeable ancient characters in Western and Eastern Zhou Period, mainly infour aspects of quantity and types, interchanged characters, original forms of characters and vocal characteristics. At last, a new idea if put forward.
