The thesis compiles and examines15articles of Warring States bamboo strip manuscripts of Chu which concern historical figures of the Chu state and have published since2004. These excavated manuscripts can offer valuable information on the study of paleography, ancient philology, history and culture. We will attempt to solve some problems that have been studied but not answered by unifying the opinions of various scholars. The thesis is constructed in two parts:Part1:Monographic Study. Part1comprises five chapters. In the first chapter, we provide a sketch of how those manuscripts had been collected, published and studied, in order to proclaim their academic value. Chapter2is an introduction about shape, size, writing and arrangement of these bamboo strips. The3th chapter is a synthetic study of text structure, state characteristics of authors. There is also a classified discussion on similar or identical content between bamboo strip manuscripts and transmitted texts. Chapter4focuses on the historical figures of the Chu state mentioned in these15articles. We will introduce the research achievement on the name, identity and status of these figures one by one, and historical events mentioned in these articles.The5th chapter focuses on the explanation of some difficult words such as “(?)”,“易”,“夈”and so on.Part2:Text Reading. In this part, we compile and edit views of scholars, as well as make a new scribe and explanation by note.
