The period of Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties is turbulent, in which thegreatest historic characteristic is consecutive migration. In the past much attention ispaid by researchers to immigration of Minorities in north-west together with themovement from north to south of people during Yong Jia period. By contrast, itseemed that scholars discounted the migration from south to north of Wei Jin andSouthern and Northern Dynasties. In fact, since196Cao cao had had the emperor inhis name and order the dukes about in his name and made Xu Chang as capital. As theresult, many nobles in south had been going to north to seek fame. At the end ofeastern Jin dynasty, with declination of the political system which is characterized bypowerful families entered active politic and became influential, influential nobles hadbeen hard-pressed to survive in south, meanwhile, together with political unstableand dynasty changeable, many clansmen displaced to north. In the other hand, withthe localization regime strengthening, northern military power enhancing andnorth-south border southward advancing, such as Qing state, Yu state and Yong state, many generals of the Southern Dynasty who lived in the border all surrendered to theNorthern Dynasty, which pushed by the military pressure of the Northern Dynasty andthe Internal conflict of the Southern Dynasty. So these people either the generals orpopulation, having no need to move, became northern civilians. Especially the Mannationality migrated to north in Jianghan and Jianghuai Regions, not only made theNorthern Dynasty get a leg up on fighting for the special area, but also enormouslypromoted national integration. From the view of author, nearly400years of the Northern and SouthernDynasties, the confrontation between the North and the South, in the fierce conflict ofpolitical groups, military blocs and nations, the migration from south to north, eithernobles or civilian, not only enhanced the cultural communication between the Northand the South, promoted national integration, but also became the important drivingforce which made the attitude of the North and the South from hostile and conflict toapprove and admit. It had an important effect and significance on the eventually formof Chinese Nation and the emergence of the "Chinese Nation" conception.
