In the history of Chinese landscape painting, Guo Xi is a pivotal figure. His paintings not only enriches the techniques of the landscape painting systems, more importantly, Guo Xi brings the brand new aesthetics for landscape painting.Especially for his establishment for a symbolic system of landscape paintings, which not only conform to the political and cultural aspirations of the times, but also create a new perception of the landscape painting:without walking outside, we can also enjoy the beauty of the landscape.This article attempts a case study of Guo Xi’s representative figure " Early Spring" by scrutinizing the collection, brushwork, iconography and embedded conception of landscape of Early Spring, the dissertation is aimed to investigate Guo Xi’s representation of nature and explore some issues related to visual culture, such as traditional heritage, iconographical reference and conception of landscape under social and cultural influence, from an innovative perspective of research of visual culture.Firstly, this article does research and analysis of the relevant background in Early Spring, including collection the figure of "Early Spring", the works of criticism and creation of Guo Xi’s life story reveals the background issues. During the research we found that the background of Early Spring is closely related to Northern SongLiterati politics, sciences, gangchang ethical construction of social order, the unique culture of scholar-officials, regional unification on culture integration and a series of social and cultural issues.Secondly, this article attempts to analyze the images in Early Spring mainly from the figure of brushwork language, layout as well as "Qi" and "Yun" three dimensions of performance. Considering the image system of Early Spring shows a figure "Ji Da Cheng"(comprehensive expression), which inherits the "smoke out" style of Li Cheng and also greatly absorbed Guan Tong, Fan Kuan’s ink features in displaying the structure of mountains. So that it shows a "inclusive" face of ink in Early Spring. In the Si, Jing space "features" that Early Spring recruited southern painting element "Jing Qu". Layout of intriguing sights, the painting placed "double pine" in the center of the aesthetic of gravity location. In the expression of "Qi" and "Yun", Early Spring turns from the stability of "Yi" to "non stop" movement. Driving vivid performance of landscape and give it "personification" spiritual connotations.Thirdly, discussing the image formed in around "double relaxation" and "mountain" system in Early Spring.We found that the changes in its own image, position of double pine, which embodied by the traditional "gentleman "loyal, proud images shifted "gentleman" as my Prime Minister,"Gong, Hou, Shi, Shuai" image content. The imagery of "highest peak"of mountain systems shows in the Northern Song Dynasty Neo-Confucianism under the influence of culture. From tall, towering, rich sense of oppression, which reflect dominate the symbolic meaning of shift to highlight the sense of orders, to "combine acting with" Li Qu and pursuit the idea of "Da Jun Zhi Lin".The "Gao Yuan" shaping the main peak of grandeur "Ping Yuan" shaping the impact characteristics of poetry "melancholy". The combination of the empty Palace of pavilions and buildings, expresses the interpretation of the social culture of Northern Song Dynasty of gentleman connotation of remodeling. The gentleman’s self-cultivation and responsibility also shows in this " Jin yi you, tui yi you" connotation.The forth part is about the view of landscape research of Early Spring. The article expresses that Guo Xi stated by "Li""Fa""Yi" pursuit at three different levels, in the progressive structure of the landscape concept connotation under the combined action and resonate with the viewers on the art. In this process, Early Spring not only satisfied the eyes watching demand but also make the viewers feeling "as if in the picture". Created by Guo Xi, as represented in Early Spring landscape paintings, shifting implements new Visual aesthetics, this era of catering to political and cultural aspirations:Northern Song Dynasty established civilian power, after scholars are mainly involved in power, scholars’ classes grow, they become art appreciation and acceptance of the primary object. Due to their own requirements, landscape changes in aesthetic taste. On the other hand, because of the jurisprudence in the Northern Song dynasty private, gentleman’s self-cultivation and social value orientation and shape, also led to a landscape composition, changes in the landscape, a series of pen and ink problem. The Early Spring is the literati class realized the ideals of landscape painting.
