Study On The Feature Of Linguistic Form And Occurrence Of Modern Chinese Poetry

In this dissertation, we will discuss the feature of linguistic form and occurrence of modern Chinese poetry which including four parts:words and phrases, syntax, rhetoric and occurrence of the linguistic form.In the first chapter, the study focus on the issue of the adoptions of the words and phrases in modern Chinese poetry, and how these factors influenced the conception of modern Chinese poetry. Compares to the vocabulary system of classical Chinese poetry, modern Chinese poetry has changed enormously. In modern Chinese poetry, the words which classical poetry never use were used tremendously, including folk adage, colloquialism, borrowed words, words depict human bodies and science, and function words. These words altered the language structure and conception of the classical Chinese poetry in symbol and ideology aspects. Different combination of principle of poetry language were used in this newborn language, which gave new ideology and meaning to modern Chinese poetry. Alternations were made in language form compared to classical Chinese poetry by using folk language. In this way, emotional expression and conception innovation in modern Chinese poetry are much more important than ornate diction and rules of rhyming in classical Chinese poetry. Modern Chinese poetry also use the words depict human bodies to show the attitude of rebellion, by which explore ourselves with genuine writing to show the respects to human and gave redemption to souls constrained by logos. By using scientific words, new intellectual perception and taste were introduced, and intelligence poetry can be also established. At the same time, function words played an important role on expressing mood of poetry language, constructing conception of time and space, and enriching logical relation. Meanwhile, the form of poetry were influenced by using function words largely. By adopting borrowed words and classical Chinese words, the language of modern Chinese poetry blended with old and new. Borrowed words in poetry language can improve the expression and add impact to effection. The possibilities of writing can be revealed by using classical Chinese words in modern Chinese poetry.The second chapter focused on the sentence structure of modern Chinese poetry. In these verses, several techniques were used as followed:enjambment, inversion, parenthesis and skipping. These techniques used can reveal the influences which caused by changing structure of verses. Enjambment can adjust the linguistic and emotional rhythm, fulfill the needs of metre in verse and build the visual effect of poetry. In this way, verses were transformed, tone of verses were altered, the meaning of poetry were enriched and fresh express pattern were established. Combined with enjambment, inversion can be able to alter the order of phrases and sentences, to change reading impression of readers, and to make focus of language. In this case, the way of compose logic and discourse can be settled. Parenthesis are very flexible, which can be used to supplement the meaning of words, express emotions and set up contexts. Skipping has several performances:incomplete sentences, broken words and blankness. By all these means, the rules of grammar and logic can be smashed, the capacity of language significance can be enlarged, and also the brand new imaginary logic can be established by skipping thoughts in verse.In the third chapter, we change the topic to rhetoric fields. Irony and paradox will be focused. Verbal irony distorted the words, dramatic irony stressed the context and general irony questioned situation of life. By all this means, irony can make the effects in verse aloof and quick-witted and give us a clue to think ourselves deeply. The study of paradox can also help us refresh the understanding of the essence in poetry language. The special effects in paradox are wonder and irony, which enriched aesthetic feelings in verse. Tensions are made by juxtapose contradictions which is not just focused on, paradox also can reveal the connection between these contradictions. Paradox goes against the common sense and logic in language, reconciles contradictions with anti-logic which reveals the reasonable part in differences, the common side in particular, the typical case in unique.In the fourth chapter, the occurrence of the feature in modern Chinese poetry selected by the force of society, which was not suddenly invented by poets bus also completed by so much power outside. The way of write and type setting, the education in middle and primary school, and the translation activities will be discussed. Punctuation and separated lines were used in verses,which caused the innovation of the poetry style. The school education fostered potential readers and writers who developed and consolidated the foundation of modern Chinese poetry. The strategy of translation which naturalise foreign poetry were proved a failure eventually. But the poetry from the Bible translated by missionaries were much more acceptable, which illustrated the feasible way to establish modern Chinese poetry is renovation of poetry language, and these experiments also provided potential reference to us.
