A Study On Haizhou Dialect

By taking Haizhou dialect as subject investigated in this dissertation, its phonetics, vocabulary and grammar have been documented systematically. Furthermore, some phenomena in its phonetics, vocabulary, grammar, and historical and cultural information have been described and analyzed. The main content of this dissertation includes the following parts:Part Ⅰ:The phonetics of Haizhou dialect. Section I:Introduction of historical evolution and geographic population general status of Haizhou, and phonetics research review and internal difference of Haizhou dialect. Section Ⅱ:The phonetic system of Haizhou dialect, including detailed introduction of initial consonant, vowel, monosyllabic tone, and tone sandhi. Section Ⅲ:The phonology matching relation of Haizhou dialect. The phonology matching relation and phonological items combination law of Haizhou dialect are reflected in tables, including phonology matching table and tones matching table. Section Ⅳ:The corresponding law of tones between Haizhou dialect and Mandarin. The initial consonants, vowels, tones of Haizhou dialect and Mandarin are compared, thereby generalizing their corresponding law. Section Ⅴ:Comparison between Haizhou dialect phonology and middle Chinese phonology. The Haizhou dialect phonology and middle Chinese phonology have been compared, thus figuring out the corresponding law, including comparisons between Haizhou initial consonant and middle Chinese initial consonant, Haizhou vowel and middle Chinese vowel, Haizhou tone and middle tone, modern Haizhou initial consonant,vowel and middle Chinese initial consonant, vowel. Section Ⅵ:Literary and colloquial readings, including literary and colloquial readings of initial consonant and vowel. Section Ⅶ:Syllabary of homophones. The single character sound of Haizhou dialect have been listed according to its vowels.Part Ⅱ:The vocabulary of Haizhou dialect. Section Ⅰ:Introduction of the following content:the formation, grammar function, and semantic features of reduplication forms such as noun reduplication, verb reduplication, adjective reduplication, adverb reduplication, classifier reduplication, and onomatopoeia reduplication in Haizhou dialect; word formation features of prefix"ge" "pu" "bu", suffix"ren" "ge", quasi-suffix"huo" "dan" "taitai". Section Ⅱ:By comparing Haizhou dialect with Sichuan dialect, the characteristics of Haizhou dialect have been reflected. Section Ⅲ:With the gradual penetration of Internet into people’s everyday life, the new language form--Internet language has come into being, and many Internet language is originated from the dialect. Consequently, the comparison between Internet language and dialect vocabulary has been carried out. Section Ⅳ:Classified thesaurus.Part Ⅲ:The grammar of Haizhou dialect. Section Ⅰ:Introduction of pronouns in Haizhou dialect. The meaning and grammar features of personal pronoun, demonstrative pronoun, and interrogative pronoun in Haizhou dialect have been interpreted respectively. Section Ⅱ:Adverbs of Haizhou dialect. The meaning and grammar features of degree adverb, scope adverb, time and frequency adverb, and modal adverb in Haizhou dialect have been interpreted respectively. Section Ⅲ:Auxiliary word of Haizhou dialect. Simple description and discussion have been made on structural auxiliary word and dynamic auxiliary word of Haizhou dialect. Section Ⅳ:Modal particle of Haizhou dialect. Simple description has been made on interrogative mood, indicative mood, imperative mood, and exclamatory mood. Section V:Comparative sentence of Haizhou dialect. Simple description of comparative sentence and Gei-construction sentence have been made. Section Ⅳ:The character "Qv" in Haizhou dialect. Compared with Mandarin, the character "Qv" in Haizhou dialect has differences both in pronunciation and usage, and description have been made on its usage as verb and directional verb in this dissertation.Part Ⅳ:Hedong dialect and classical drama. Haizhou Town is in Hedong area, and Haizhou dialect is one branch of Hedong dialect. Many archaic words are preserved in Hedong dialect, and many of them are originated from classical drama. By taking Dou e Yuan and The Romance of West Chamber as examples, simple analysis has been made on oral vocabulary of Hedong dialect in this section.Part Ⅴ:Interpretation of historical and cultural information of Yanhu area village names dialect. Every area name origin embodies different cultural information, and the origin of Yanhu area village names are related to three aspects:salt industry, significant historical events of Yuncheng and celebrity relics.Part Ⅵ:Corpus voice recording. The grammar sample sentences, proverbs, Chinese two-part allegorical sayings, and folk tales are annotated with phonemic transcriptions.Part Ⅶ:Hedong dialect original character textual research. By referring to a large amount of literature and material, textual research has been accomplished on 84 original characters of Hedong dialect.
