From the beginning of twentieth Century, a large number of wooden slips of Han Dynasty were unearthed from the Han Dynasty ruins of northwest frontier in Gansu, Xinjiang, Ejinaqi of Inner Mongolia. They are mainly Dunhuang Han wooden slips, Lopnur wooden slips, Juyan Han wooden slips, the new Juyan wooden slips, Jianshuijinguan Han wooden slips, Ejina Han wooden slips, Xuanquan wooden slips etc. In this paper they are called the “the Han Dynasty wooden slips of northwest frontier”.This paper studies the chronology of the Han Dynasty wooden slips of northwest frontier. Chronology is an important basic work for the study of Han Dynasty wooden slips. It not only provides objective basis for the research of wooden slips, but improves the historical value of the wooden slips, and provides references for related research. Chronological work often requires the integrated use of the related disciplines of knowledge and methods of bamboo science, history, archaeology, history of law, historical geography etc. It is, according to the calendar,the number of years, the lunar month and so on In the wooden slips, to determine the years of the wooden slips of unknown age; according to the historical figures, events, names, name of administrative region, Xin Mang period character, to speculate the exact date or designated approximate period of the slips; with the help of wooden slips unearthed, standard, material, texture, cracks and content, examples, font, handwriting, of the slips, to restore the broken slips to presume the exact date and time range.The paper fully absorbed the relevant research results, and summarize the methods of chronology of the wooden slips.This paper consists of three parts: “Introduction”, “Main Body” and “appendix”. The “Introduction” introduces the northwest frontier in Han Dynasty unearthed, the chronology of the Han Dynasty and the research significance and the structure. The “Main Body” is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is “The Review of the Study of the Chronology of the Han Dynasty Wooden Slips of Northwest Frontier”. The second chapter is “The Chronological Method of the Han Dynasty Wooden Slips of Northwest Frontier”. The third chapter is “The Chronology of Han Dynasty Wooden Slips of Northwest Frontier(I)”. The fourth chapter is “The Chronology of Han Dynasty Wooden Slips of Northwest Frontier(II)”. The fifth chapter is “The Research on Related Issues of the Chronology of Han Dynasty Wooden Slips”. The “appendix” is the keyword index. Including provide clues to date of the official name, the title name and county name.
