A Study On The Character Of Chen Hongshou’s Figure Painting Modeling Language

The late Ming and early Qing dynasties are another important stage of figure painting development. Taking Chen Hongshou who had a great influence as the figure painting leading figure, he greatly inherits and expands the figure painting which was desolated under the prosperity trend of the painting painted by the scholars in Song and Yuan Dynasties, and composes the new chapter of the figure painting revival. From investigating the Ming Dynasty’s figure painting, it can be known that the outstanding achievements achieved by Chen Hongshou generated a great influence at that time. This paper takes Chen Hongshou as a viewpoint, trying to reveal that the Ming Dynasty’s figure painting creation character is related to the Ming dynasty’s aesthetic fashion, in order to stealthily watch the overall painting forms of the Ming Dynasty’s figure painting.This paper takes the figure painting creation of Chen Hongshou as the research object, and through discussing his figure painting’s inheritance, the traditional source, and the aberrance of its painting style and combining with his painting idea, this paper tries to clarify the painting ideal model and the aesthetic orientation of Chen Hongshou’s figure painting creation. Furthermore, this paper classifies, sorts and analyzes his existing works, in order to reveal his painting aesthetic concept presented by the pen and ink and color.This paper aims at judging the essential role value of Chen Hongshou’s figure painting, and it hopes to reveal the aesthetic concept presented by his painting language through deeply analyzing his modeling language features. This paper takes painting proof and history proof as the research principal line, simultaneously involving into multiple perspectives of creation and evaluation and analysis, concepts and techniques, historical comments and aesthetics, etc., carrying out discussion and analysis by aiming at the specific works, in order to conclude and evaluate the contribution and meaning of Chen Hongshou’s figure painting creation, thus to show the research’s academic value and significance.
