Since twentieth Century, the archaeological work in China has made great achievements.Hubei, Hunan and other regions have unearthed a large number of ancient Chu bamboo slips of the Warring States period(hereinafter referred to as the "Chu bamboo slips").A large number of Chu bamboo slips during the Warring States contain many aspects of history, religion, philosophy, the importance of etiquette, music, medicine, military.With the interpretation of characters on Chu bamboo slips of the deepening work, the bamboo slips contained in the text showing the phenomenon of variant forms of Chinese characters. This has led to a new round of upsurge about the variant forms of Chinese characters.This paper based on the research results of scholars, through the collection of Chu bamboo slips in the variant forms of Chinese characters, the font and font variant traffic carries on the comparison, analysis of their structure differences. And one by one for each variant shape and the meaning of research, analysis, study the graphic variants derived from the evolution of the Chu culture, Chu characters shaped by factors of mining the implicit.In this paper, from the point of view of Chinese characters of formation and structure of Chinese characters, summed up the characteristics of variant forms of Chinese characters, respectively is:increasea a shape symbol based on the pictographic character, increase a shape symbol based on self explanatory character, increase a shape symbol based on the associative compounds,the pictophonetic characters change into associative compounds, the replacement form or to change form. Create a variant of Chu people are more clearly to the specific meaning of the word in the text. However, in the actual use of language is not strictly abide by the "word" special rules, reflects the degree of randomness.With a unified culture, language, the vast majority of variants were eliminated.Only a handful of variants were widely spread and eventually become universal characters.
