Conversational language is a crucial part in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. In Vietnam, teaching Chinese began a long time ago with diversed appearance and content. In this day and age, teaching Chinese has become more and more concerned. Chinese is considered as not only majority but also non-specialized foreign language on large scale, hence, there are a number of students studying this language. That research on Chinese teaching methods, especially non-specialized conversational Chinese has an important role in improving quality of teaching Chinese in Vietnam. The title of the article " Research on present condition of teaching non-specialized conversational Chinese in Vietnam", applies exclusively investigation, statistic and analysis so as to conduct research on teaching non-specialized conversational Chinese at universities in Vietnam. The investigation method focuses on observation and survey (anket). The research was conducted in University of International Languages and Studies, Vietnam National University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The essay contains 6 chapters:Chapter 1 summarizes the history of teaching Chinese in Vietnam; chapter 2 explains concept of conversational language and teaching conversational language, especially in Chinese; chapter 3 conducts research and survey on condition of teaching non-specialized conversational Chinese in Vietnam, so as to point out the advantages and disadvantages; chapter 4 analyzes the mechanism of studying conversational Chinese; chapter 5 investigates strategy of teaching non-specialized conversational Chinese at Universities in Vietnam; chapter 6 comes to conclusion and suggestion. Throughout researching, it can be said that teaching conversational Chinese has gained better results than listening, reading, writing skills but there are still some disadvantages. Specifically, content, method and time have not been connected among them, and a majority of universities separate conversational language as a independent subject from listening, reading and writing skills. However, there are some universities teaching Chinese as general practice subject. Therefore, attitude and motivation of students are different, and the awareness and method of teachers are also not the same, which lead to different teaching effect between universities. Throughout the analysis, the essay suggests some resolution to teaching non-specialized conversational Chinese in Vietnam, and emphasizes the need of developing study condition, especially the quantity of students in a class, strengthening the communication between teachers and students by means of organizing teaching activities, changing motivation and attitude of students in order to improve the quality of teaching Chinese in Vietnam, especially teaching conversational language.
