In the end the author establishes Cai Xiang’s Calligraphy Thought, i.e.“advocating learning from the ancient, saving the weak calligraphy in his times and reflect his true feelings in the calligraphy”, and thereby the author clears the aesthetic height and the connotation of Cai Xiang’s calligraphy about“hiding the talent in the statutes”,just like “a needle hidden in silk floss”,“not showing himself by his calligraphy talent ”, “ emphasizing the connotation and ignoring the forms”.Taking the Cai Xiang’s calligraphy thoughts as the main clue and combining with the official career condition changes of Cai Xiang, the author discusses the forming process of Cai’s calligraphy style and the achievements. Focusing on the Feibai Calligraphy and the Feibai cursive script, the author puts forward his own ideas on the comments and criticism about Cai Xiang’s calligraphy style. At the same time, on the basis of calligraphy history ideology, historical textual research and logical reasoning, the author discusses and restores the order and position of four great calligraphers in the Song Dynasty. By the people’s understanding of them in the Song Dynasty, the Yuan dynasty, the Ming dynasty and the Qing Dynasty, the author reveals the ideological trend of calligraphy then.Because of Cai Xiang’s calligraphy theory is shattered, inadequate, and the existence of translation errors, the author edits and annotates 45 pieces of Cai Xiang’s calligraphy theory in order to attract the attention to Cai Xiang’s calligraphy study and help to accept Cai Xiang’s calligraphy and the further study.
