Philosophy is the essence of time spirit. Grasping time theme self-consciously, Realizing theory creation constantly is the important theoretical character of Marxist philosophy. Having a dialogue with western philosopher is a necessary part which can interpret the historical context of Marx’s philosophy and self-exam modernized problems in our country. It is also an important way to endow with time feature and realize research innovation of Marxist philosophy. Based on text interpretation and put Marx’s philosophy in western philosophy context, doctrinal comparatively analyzed with latter practice philosophy representative Dewey philosophy is contribute to evaluate Dewey as well as pragmatism objectively. Meantime, it is of great significance to absorb civilized developmental achievements of western and even the whole world and make a theoretical innovation of Marxist philosophy.From the background of traditional to modern revolution, Marx’s philosophy overturned convention of western philosophy and basically changed philosophy theme and thinking model, realized a turn to practice.Dewey objects to every metaphysical intellectual far away from reality. Although they both propose use practice or action to transform traditional philosophy, Marx’s philosophy surpassed the binary opposition by revolution of idealism and old materialism. Different revolution produced different practice philosophy. Materialism proposed by Marx is aimed at the scientific and revolutionary unified of human liberation. Dewey considered that experience naturalism can help individual survived in environment.From the nature of practice, Marx and Dewey are both against those who discuss it in range of spirit, like Kant and Hegel. Marx hold that practice is an activity of reforming the reality world by human, which is an unity of regularity and purpose. Dewey emphases unilaterally that external world is uncertainly and he denied the regularity of social development. He explained that practice is behavior and tool to deal with the environment and science experiment is a basic modern of human activity.From an epistemological perspective, Marx and Dewey take practice as a base and break the bonds of traditional theory philosophy, definite knowledge and truth by practice and activity to reveal the developing procession of recognize.Marx considered that knowledge is the reflection of objective things during practice. However, Dewey suggests that knowledge just construction of individual action, improvement and development is similar to a successive evolution of organism. On the conception of truth, although they both emphasize inspect truth by practice and action, Marx take propose that human should prove the nature of truth of their thinking, Dewey judge the fact or fiction of knowledge through value but practice as a fundamental way, because of he insist that evaluate man’s action should take valuation as the center.From the angle view of axiology, Marx and Dewey both regard practice as essence of valuation and reject tradition philosophy separated fact and value as two. Marx takes value as a created achievement of social practice activity. Nevertheless, Dewey suggests value produced from the evaluation of individual utility and against that the existence of human common universal and ultimate value. Regards of the own value of practice, Marx thinks practice is a way of being contrast to Dewey hold that action just a solution for human lives.In summary, Marx and Dewey both take practice to transform traditional metaphysics.As a subsequent philosophy, as a result of lacking scientific, pragmatism of Dewey do not accomplish his task and cannot transcend a revolution realized by Marx. However, Dewey profound influent American society and leaves human lots of valuable ideas, and which is of reference meaning for innovation and development of contemporary Marxism.
