Market Economy And The Study Of Contemporary Chinese Political Value Transformation

In contemporary China, social transformation is the main characterization and basictendency of social development. Two forms of social change will inevitably occur. One is thechange of the economic level; another is the change of the political level. Since China’sreform and open, with the foundation of the socialist market economy, the norm power, thelead power, and the control power of Chinese original political value have been increasinglyweakening. In the circumstances, we must study and resolve the modern project byconstructing a new political value system in accordance with the objective requirement ofsocialist market economy. On the basis of dialectic materialism and historical materialism,the dissertation mainly discusses the problem of Chinese political value change, politicalvalue conflict, political value integration, and political value construction under thecondition of socialism market economy.The dissertation is divided into three parts: introduction, body, and conclusion.The first part is the introduction which mainly focuses on the primal problems,introduces the related study at home and abroad, discusses the theoretical and realisticsignificance, explains the basic concepts of political value concerned, indicates the studymethods, elaborates the primal viewpoints and basic structure.The second part is the body which is divided into five chapters. The first chapterexpounds the basic theory of political value and market economy. It argues that politicalvalue is the result of the human material production practice. Political value reaches anidentity of the human material production practice. Mode of production is a basic scalewhich could weigh the human material production practice condition. Mode of productionchange certainly will lead to political value change. Political value is a subjective reflectionof the certain mode of production. On the basis of production socialization, the internalgood-and-bad double attributes of market economy shape positive-and-negative doubleeffects of political value. Political value arises from market economy which engenders thesprout of democracy, freedom, equality, open, fairness, and law. Market economy decidespolitical value and political value reacts on market economy. The dialectical relation of unityexists between them.The second chapter discusses the change and transformation of Chinese political valuesince reform and open. It argues that Chinese political value change is consistent with the process of socialist market economy system. Chinese political value change which indicatesthe tendency of individual, economy, modern, open, and world is promoted by socialistmarket economy. Market economy emphasizes on individual interests, which misleadspeople’s political value and gives rise to the loss of political value. The renewingpragmatism, the prevailing individualism, the overflowing mammonism are basicexpressions of Chinese political value loss. Political value transformation is caused byeconomic system transformation. Socialist market economy contains the rationality ofpolitical value transformation. The establishment of the socialist market economy inevitablyleads to the transformation of political value subjects, political value standards, politicalvalue objects, and the confusion of political value transformation.The third chapter researches the shock and conflict of political value in economictransitional period. It argues that market economy is a subject economy. Market economywill provide a hotbed for multiple political values as a result of respecting people’sindependent interests. The reform of socialist economy system promotes growth and spreadof a variety of political values, which leads up to multiple political values structure andfierce collisions between them. As an inevitable result of interest conflict, political valueconflicts are continued and deepened by political collisions. In contemporary China, politicalvalue conflicts are characterized by dominant political value and subordinate political value,traditional political value and modern political value, planned economy political value andmarket economy political value, oriental political value and western political value. Socialistmarket economy gives rise to identity crisis of value evaluations, political thoughts, andpolitical ideals. In order to resolve identity crisis of political value, we should base onmaterial interests by means of the internal mechanism and external mechanism.The fourth chapter raises the adjustment and consolidation to multiple political valuesunder the condition of the socialist market economy. It argues that change of the socialproductive forces is the fundamental cause of political value anomie. The establishment ofsocialist market economy will lead to the crush and fracture of original political value norm,induce a variety of irrational behaviors, and intensify political value anomie. Politicalbehavior anomie focuses on political value anomie which could destroy normal socialpolitical order, lead to a variety of deviant behaviors, and trigger drastic disorderedcompetition. As a result, we should adjust political value by means of renewing traditionalpolitical value, exerting control effects of dominant political value, making a dialogueamong multiple political values, remodeling political value ideals. Integrating political value is the objective requirement of dealing with multiple political values, eliminating its harm,and avoiding political value crisis. In fact, political value integration is the integration ofinterest. We should gradually promote the establishment of basic framework of interestintegration on the basis of interest articulation, interest coordination, interest distribution,and interest protection.The fifth chapter expounds the choice and construction of socialist political valuesystem. It argues that political value system is in connection with the certain socialproductive forces and productive relations. The choice of political value system is virtuallythe choice of mode of production. Therefore, we should have market economy as theobjective basis of socialist political value system, which is realized by criticizing, sublating,absorbing, and surpassing a variety of political value systems. Socialist market economyintrinsically determines the construction of socialist political value system, which logicalstarting point is concentratedly reflected by the intrinsic logic of socialist market economy.We have “the living” as the starting point, which could realize the correspondence betweensocialist political value system and socialist market economy. The construction of socialistpolitical value system must look on socialist market economy as the basic orientation. Underthe determination of socialist market economy, we could gradually construct socialistpolitical value system from specific contents, basic principles, implemental paths, andoverall goals.The third part is the conclusion which raises a new collectivism political value, andpromotes the political value national strategy in accordance with the objective requirementof the socialist market economy. We should construct socialist core political value systemwhich indicates the spirit of times, nation, humanity, and world. At the same time, it shouldhave a strong vitality and could be identified by the masses.
